Can everyone tell me as specific as they can how the first 3 days post op are?
I don't know why, but I thought the pain after surgery would not bother me at all. I did wake up in pain (much more than I expected) and it was very hard to get in and out of bed for the first few days. I was walking 4 hrs after surgery, very very slowly. I think they are able to control the pain better by adjusting the kind of meds given, because after 3 days, they took me off the morphine drip and gave me a pill for nausea and pain due to an intestinal blockage, and it completely eliminated the pain. And I got the best sleep ever.
I personally don't want to see anyone in the hospital, but that is just because I am anti-social.
When I am home and feeling well enough to get out, then I will want to socialize with friends, heck I will even socialize with enemies.

Its different for everyone. I expected horrific pain and it really wasnt that bad at all. Getting in and out of bed was hard. Standing up and sitting down was hard but walking was not and lying down I felt completely fine. On day 2 I used my morphine pump once. I took oral painkillers maybe a handful of times including the time I was in the hospital. At a week out I was able to walk a mile and stand and sit without much pain. The biggest thing was exhaustion. I felt drained all the time. Food was weird, fluids were fussy and while I was starving early out, once I was able to eat I didnt really want to.
While I was in the hospital I was way too tired to use my laptop but I did talk on the phone a good amount. I had visitors and it made me smile. I HATED the urine cath and that was probably the worst part of it all. I would fall asleep all the time... I would start a TV show and then fall asleep a few minutes in and then wake up and see the ending. People would visit, I would fall asleep while they were talking to me. The exhaustion took a while for me to really get back to normal.

How many times are you going to repost versions of the same questions you've previously asked?
If I recall, you posted a few weeks ago asking for links to blogs about the early post op experience. Also, if you look at many people's profiles, they have very detailed updates at one week or one month, etc. Heck, there've been a bunch of new post-ops putting in the last few weeks about all aspects of their surgery experience.
The bottom line is that NO ONE can tell you what YOUR SURGERY EXPERIENCE will be like. No one knows how YOU will feel, if YOU will want visitors, if you'll have some odd random complication that no one has heard of before. Only those with your same surgeon at your same hospital can tell you how that staff is likely to behave and how you're hospital stay is likely to progress, but even we can't make the unknown be known to you.
My recommendation is just to read, read, read here. Read the other sites that other people have suggested in response to your other posts. If you feel like you don't have enough information yet, read those sites AGAIN. Read everything you can find here on the DS forum, in the profile's of DS patients. There really is enough here to give you as much perspective as you can possible glean from second hand experiences.
This isn't to say that I don't think you should post questions here. I just want to encourage you to read twice, type once.

I wasn't going to say anything but since you did, thank you Sarah.
Another great tool is the search function in the upper right hand side of the site.
Also, go to the different ds Dr's stats page and look up their websites and read them- some have really good info on them, like Dr. Keshishian.
go here and just start reading, make notes and then if you can't find the answer, then feel free to ask here. Sorry if this sounded harsh, i really didn't mean it to.

Actually the search function here is awful. It's not even worth using.
Instead, go to google and type:
site:obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/ Dr. Keshishian
Or whatever you are searching for.

Hey Sarah. Thanks... I honestly just didn't get the kind of information I was looking for by reading profiles and doing searches. I appreciate that more people responded to this question. I am just trying to figure out EVERY possible response I could get and with a lot of people not having their experiences posted, this seemed to be a good way to do it.
