Well I remember you posting about a pain you were having in your right side and thinking it might be a TOM pain.  I'm only posting because your descriptions of your pain were very similar to mine.  Well it turns out I have at least one hernia.  That's of course is not saying you do , i just thought I'd let you know what i found out at the Surgeons office yesterday.    I'm heading out on a two day road trip to Wyoming and told him I can't have it fixed right now.  He said it could wait till we get back, but it needs to be fixed.

Now for the the rest of you..... how common is this and is a repair  horrible?  I had open Ds 4/6/2011 and emergency lap exploratory 4/15/2011.  I'm pretty worried about so many surgeries in such a sort time. anyone else have experience with all this?  Please share your stories.

A little worried,
Ginger

Oh, I'm glad I was checking the boards today!!  Is the hernia in the exact area of your pain?  I keep wondering that too, because man, my pain was bad there right before my period.  Now, I'm not having any pain right now, but like the other day I lifted a heavy bag of groceries and felt that pain later that night.

What does it entail to fix your hernia?  I'm wondering if they will do it open or lap.  I really would hate to have another open surgery at this point.  Good luck!  Let me know how it goes.

Where is your hernia located?  And is there a reason that you need to have it repaired RIGHT NOW?  I mean yes hernias are annoying and can be painful sometimes.  But if it isn't actively strangulating and more of annoyance could you not let it go for awhile, since you aren't that far out?  I was told at my 6 month check up that I had a small hernia but that it wasn't necessary to have it repaired right then.  I let it go for as long as I could so that I could pair my hernia repair with a panniculectomy.  I finally had it repaired this past January, which was almost a year from when it was diagnosed.

That being said - if you do start having symptoms that it IS strangulating or causing a bowel obstruction - puking, excessive dhr, or not pooping at all - you MUST get it repaired, STAT.
