Acute pancreatitis and NO gallbladder?
Caprice,
Jeff N struggled with something similar not too long ago. This is him http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/nystromjeff/
He believes it to be related to an allergy/or the filler in the Vit A he was taking as part of his vit routine. Once off the Vit A he became healthy. While taking it he became very ill. You could check with him for better details as I do not want to post incorrect information. He appears to be doing well now, although I am not sure what he is doing for Vit A now.
Was Vit A one of your vits ? It can also get to a toxic level and cause havoc with us.
Hope you find answers.

Hi, Ginger,
Thanks for that information. Yes, I do take Vit. A, and I'll be looking at this as a possibility, too. I've been taking that brand for about 2 years now, with no ill effects, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be that.
I'm really not sure what all the hospital looked at, won't see those results until I look at them with my doctor, but they did tell me that kidney and liver function were good. (for what that's worth)
I'm looking forward to getting more complete information, and doing a bit more testing.
I appreciate your input.

Caprice,
I know Jeff said that the filler was changed with the VIt A at some point in time and it was not until after it was changed that he developed issues. I know of other people who have had weird reactions to fillers as well. You are right it could be many things, just glad you are feeling better. Hope you figure it out once all the test are in.

Caprice, honey, I am sorry you had to go through this. I'll throw this out for you to research. Our dog had serious pancreatic problems and 2 of the supplements we gave her were Slippery Elm and Glutamine to aid in healing inflamation of the intestines. So you might want to google that. I think the slippery elm is to be taken away from other meds, etc.

Oh, I'm feeling fine! I still would like to figure out what caused it though.
By the time I got to the ER (an hour's drive away), I was simply in discomfort, and, had I not been terrified of having a bowel obstruction, I would not have walked in to the hospital. Glad I did, though. I wasn't given very specific instructions on my release, other than to take it easy, avoid fatty foods (riiiiiiight...), stay hydrated.
So, I'll follow up with my physician.
Thanks, Steve.
