a call about my lab results . .
I haven't seen the numbers yet myself but I just got a call from AZWLS from Dr Simon's assistant who told me he said my labs looked fine except I am a little low on my potassium. Said I should have a can of tomato juice or V-8 everyday to fix that . .EEEEEW I would rather take some potassium!
She is sending me the numbers so I can post them here and get forum input- I was expecting to be down & deficient (and maybe I am trending down) as I could only get down gummyvites the first few months until I got the right chewables to compensate for my horse pill aversion.
I noticed LAB CORP paid a pretty big portion of the labstoo leaving me with just a $100+ balance which I have no problems with. I did insist on doing the entire list of the VL labs! Stay tuned!

"Fine" means normal ranges for normies in most cases. :) Get your data together ... start trending your pre-op labs and this one so you can start to catch things before they fall.

I was in the clinical value low range for Vit A & Zinc, high on B6 and B12. A whole lot of other things were wrong with my labs that my dr doesn't know what to make of & is sending me to a hematologist (though I think I've got it figured out). He literally had no opinion on ANYTHING in my labs, though overall at least 1/3 were out of range, except to say that he wanted me to "back off the B12 as bit, but otherwise keep on doing what I'm doing".
Stunning, really. Don't trust them, get a spreadsheet going!

yes I know- I am waiting for them to be sent to me so I can post them here and also compare them with the preop results and get some better feedback. I am sure I must be trending down and need to make changes no matter what he said!
I am so thankful for this forum and I can see now why so many might get in trouble years down the line without having this resource! A friend of mine that had the RNY 5 years ago had her entire spine dissolve and has had 2 major surgeries putting metal all down her spine. I wonder if that is due to lack of calcium for years- I know they had her on flintstones vitamins after the surgery and I know she has been too broke during those years to buy the stuff I hear about here!

Ask for a prescription for Potassium Citrate. The citrate is good for us and helps us avoid kidney stones. The ones I get are 1080 mg and I cut them in half. Just $5 on my plan. :o) Otherwise, Vitamin Shoppe sells Potassium Citrate 99mg tablets, so you would have to take about five.
I'll be watching for you to post you labs. Glad you are staying on top of things.

I would suggest getting the results for yourself, that is your right. depending on where you are and the procedure you can sign a release for the results when you have blook work or you can have the ordering dr's office send you the results. keep all your results and put them in a spread sheet, so that if you see any trending it can be address quickly before that ends up in the toilet, there are many spreadsheets on google docs and others have other speadsheets
