Yes! Congratulations on your surgery! I just had mine about two weeks ago.
I will post here once I format the meeting and have a start date, we are looking to have the first meeting sometime in January, Saturdays at 11am PST. If you like, you can PM your email, so I can keep you posted that way . Otherwise, I'll be sure to post here at least a week ahead of time both as a new post and here in this thread as well.
All the best!
Thank you for your interesting story and tips.
Not sure I'm following your question so here goes.
I had the DS almost 18 years ago. At surgery I weighed 320 pounds (5'3"). I lost all of my excess weight in just over a year. I weighed and measured all my food and followed the program 150%. I started working out about 3-4 months after surgery (once my surgeon gave me the OK). I lost 5 pounds a week for 5 months (100 pounds). Then I quit smoking so it took me another 5 months to lose the next 50 pounds. Then the last 20-25 pounds took probably another 5-6 months. I had plastic surgery about 2 years after losing all my weight and have kept it off ever since.
This morning when I got on the scale I weighed 149 pounds. I maintain my weight by eating more than 100 grams of protein per day, drink at least a gallon of water a day, and take ALL of my vitamins every day. I take a probiotic and fiber every morning. I balance carbs - I eat a ton to maintain my weight. if I notice the scale creeping up, I cut back on the carbs.
I have battled iron deficiency anemia since the beginning - my last infusion was almost 4 years ago and the numbers are still good. I also have osteoporosis (but I'm also 63 years old) so it's probably a combination of not absorbing calcium and genetics.
Otherwise life is good.
My advice is to follow the guidelines. Eat your protein, avoid carbs (if you're trying to lose weight), drink your water, and exercise.

I am having the conversion from sleeve to ds on 12/23 and would love the support group
Can I join?
My first surgery failed, or should I say I failed my surgery. I did however go in with the wrong mindset. I thought that the surgery would you all the work for me. I have surgery in Mexico. There was no aftercare and no education. I just went back to my old eating habits. I am hoping That with this new surgery and the education and after care that they provide I will be able to make the necessary changes to be successful this time.
I also had my surgeries in Mx. in 2010, I did receive instructions, a diet plan to follow with appropriate progression stages and tips to help me be successful.
I hope this time you will receive the info that you can use to help you be successful. Good luck!
Hey if you have had a DS and lost 100% of our excess wait what did you do? What was your weight last time I. What advice would you give

Have you guys had any DS regrets? Honestly? Is there something you would have done differently?. If you had to give advice to someone who is going through the surgery that you just had or have had in the past what advice would you give them?
no hate towards the surgery. I?m having a SLeeve to DS revision.
no regrets. I also converted from a sleeve to the DS, it is actually a conversion not a revision.
I went on to lose the rest of the weight I couldn't lose with the sleeve only snd most importantly , to more easily maintain the loss.
DS is not a surgery for those who can't commit to to regimen. High protein, high fat, low carb diet.
a very strenuous vitamin and mineral requirement and this is non negotiable. If you can't commit to the supplementation necessary please think twice about this surgery. Deficiencies can cause irreversible problems and lead to fatalities.
that being said, I love my DS and would have it again.
Regrets... Yes. I wish I had done it 30 years sooner. From where I sit in the cheap seats it seems to work better than anything else out there. Good luck.
No regrets for me. I had my DS 18 years ago. Hopefully you'll get some feedback from people who got the sleeve first, then the switch - I've seen different results when done in two parts (which is basically what you're having).
Good luck!!
