help ...with capital health insurance
hi this is my second go round with wls.. the first time i was denied for being honest about myself/.. well this time i know better. i need this surgery bad.. i have tried to lose weight alone and just cant do it.. anyway anyone have capital health and had or is going through having the surgery done????????????????????????????? any help would be nice... thanks...
I don't have capital health. But the insurance companies have added qualifications for approval. I had to have 5 years of weight loss records submitted by my doctor for approval. I was able to use ww and tops records, plus what my doctor had written. It was frustrating. But if your doctor will work with you and resubmit things, then you are on your way! Hope things work out, keep us posted!
Hey Emily,
I had the WLS paid for by Capital Health Plan. I went thru the year of weight loss classes with Melissa and tried to do the exercise. I did all of that and the psych doctor and was approved within two weeks of my submitting all of my paperwork. Why did they deny you the first time? I think that they like to deny people just to see if they are serious about WLS. How many classes have you attended? I know that you have to have at least 16. I think that I had about 21. I went every week for a year, and I probably missed about 3. They are boring!!! Just do what they ask and I think you will be fine. Feel free to email me anytime you need help or have questions. Don't worry, this time they are going to approve you and you will have your surgery. Take care.

cathy thanks so much.. they denied me the first time, well i lived in rhode island at the time, because my nutritionist said i dont eat right and that the surgery would not be a success for me, i was so devestaed.. plus i think its because i had state insurance. they treat you like a piece of ka ka .. when you have that.. now that i have a good job and have great inusrance i have noticed the difference.. its a shame. I got a call yesterday from my pcp doctor and she said the same thing you did which is a good thing. I want to take the classes and meet ppl and be aware of what is going to happen. i think god is on my side this time, im not really really religious but i do think he is. Things happen for a reason and i think he wanted me to wait. I am so happy for you that you had the surgery and wish you great success in the future.. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
God bless
Emily
