Topic: questions about fobi
I am planning on having a revison of my band due to erosion and i'm looking more twords fobi, but had a few questions
1. Can it be done laproscopic?
2. What is the recovery time with going back to work?
3. How do you feel about your decision?
4. To the ones who have had the surgery what was the worst part?
5. I heard they leave a feeding tube in after surgery... is that true?
Iv'e done some reasearch online, but of coarse things aren't always as they seem in real life. So I was hoping for some experianced answers :)

Topic: Article Documents Findings that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Boosts WLS Success
I came across an article that indicates that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy may boost the Success of Weight Loss Surgery. It confirms what I and many others have found. It is why the 'Beck Diet Solution' has been such a helpful tool to me and some of my weight loss surgery support group members. The Beck Diet Solution is not geared specifically to WLS patients, but to anyone who wants to identify and manage destructive food related behaviors. Here's a link to the article.

Thank you for reply, I hadn't really heard of it, or the "fobi pouch". I am still debating. Thanks again.

I have it, it is supposed to help keep your stomach at a smaller size forever. I have had no complications and I figured that why not have that done as well. It doesn't cost anymore and it is just another good thing!!!

Ok, so I had my pre-op appt on wed. I am having RNY on Tuesday. I only heard on this silastic ring this week at my nut class. Has anyone had it? I am not sure if I want it. I am looking for info please. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. the NP at the surgeon's office said that my surgeon reccommends it because about 20% of RNY patients stretch out after 2yrs. That is the only info she gave me.
Thanks,
Lacey

Topic: making an appeal
Well my insurance company denied my surgery. Has anyone else had his problem? I am so upset. My doctor wrote and appeal letter and so did I so I am hoping that will help.
Topic: RE: CHOOSING THE SURGERY FOR ME
I chose the Duodenal Switch.
I wanted to be able to eat more normally and larger amounts of food and the vertical sleeve gastrectomy and intestinal malabsorption provide for this.
I also wanted to be able to take Ibuprofen and other NSAIDS, and with a pounch RNY this is discouraged.
I can eat quite a bit of food. I do not have any diarrhea. I am actually constipated if I do not eat enough fat.
I researched weight loss surgery for 6 years before I finally took the plunge.
I believe that for me the duodenal switch was the best option. Post on the Duodenal Switch Boards. Ask questions there.
Good luck and God Bless,
Kathy

Body by God; alterations by Buchwald. I love Jesus. I so so so appreciate my DS.
Topic: RE: nervous and confused dont know what to do
Hi Maria, I'm Celest. I have not had my surgery yet but I thought the same thing when I saw my nut when i was seeking the RNY. I just knew I was setting myself up for failure until I started reading the DS forum. Have you thought about the DS? I have chosen it because I can eat close to what a normal person can eat and it has the least percentage of weight gain of all of the wls. i even had to change docs because my doc didn't do it. Good luck to what ever you choose, they are all life changing decisions.
