No more pain meds...

Dee, these coughing spells are just something I've had to deal with most of my life. I don't get them often, but when I do, they can be quite violent at times. It's like a tickle in the side of my throat or something and coughing can't be avoided no matter how hard I try. Two of the spells weren't too bad, but the last one was the one that brought me to tears. My husband stood behind me pulling the pillow tight against my tummy while I leaned onto the bed (that happens to be just the right height for me to lean against) and I coughed... and coughed... and coughed. That was the last coughing spell I had THANKFULLY! In my opinion, you probably don't have to worry about having a coughing spell like I did. Mine had nothing to do with the surgery. I did use the bathroom yesterday... several times. It hit me HARD! For me, it's diarhea. I was out and about with my family and had to go at Wal-Mart. It was very difficult for me because we were out for a few hours and I was needing the "comforts" of home. I've already been this morning as well. This morning I got a tinsy bit sick to my stomach before I went to the bathroom. Once I used the bathroom, the sickness quickly subsided. My pain is SO minimal at this time. I'm amazed at how much I'm NOT hurting. If it weren't for the gas pains and diahrea pains (that is to say, the urgency and the tummy pains that comes with this moving through my intestines), I would hardly have any pain at all. I was even wondering this morning if it's normal to feel so good only a few days out from surgery. Had it not been for the coughing, I don't think I would have taken another pain pill. By the way, I took the pain pill that night after coughing so badly (and only half a pill at that) and within a minute of just laying down, the pain was completely and TOTALLY GONE! I could have done without the pain pill that night too. As far as the weight loss, I was up 5 pounds from day b4 surgery on the day I came home, Wednesday. Today I am down 6 pounds from day b4 surgery. However, my tummy is so swollen that I can't wear any of my skirts on my tummy. I'm having to wear jumpers that have no waistline in them. The swelling is going down tremendously but I still look about 6 months pregnant. (I looked 8 months pregnant Wednesday) I hope this helps. Gale
