Hi everyone, Im so upset right now, ever since I have been trying to get the WLS my boss (who is also the only person besides me in HR) had been treating me terribly, She told everyone in the office I was going to have the surgery, berated me over every appoinment, etc. Friday she tried to skip over giving me any kind of Verbal warning and tried to give me a written warning full of lies which i refused to sign (note, I have never been in trouble for anything in the year and a half I have been there). When I wouldnt sign the paper she became irate and I knew I couldnt work for her anymore, I left her office to call the Corp. HR guy who is her boss, the next thing I know my boss and 2 male managers burst into the office while im on the phone with corp. and tell me to leave right then. Im so humiliated and mad. Any absenses she had a problem with were met with Dr. s excuses. I had just finished the last of my tests before going into schedule the surgery and now I have no insurance and cant get it! Does anyone know what I can do? I have spoken to lawyers, but I really want that to be a last resort. Does anyone know of anyplace in the Lexington Frankfort area or even back east in Prestonsburg for a BS in Journalism degree holder with 3 years office and HR experience?

Jenny, I am so sorry to hear your situtaion. Some people can be such JERKS!!! I dont know if the job has been filled or not but there was a job opening in the HR department of Hazard Community and Technical College on the Hazard Campus. The number is 1-800-246-7521 ask for Vickie Combs ( head of HR) or Angie Fugate ( assistant) I use to work part time in their office before I graduated college and I loved it. They are wonderful ladies and very very easy to get along with....and they both are the type of people that would rather you ask a million questions to make sure you are doing something correct than to have you do something and have to do it all over again....Good Luck!!!

Have you checked into CORBA coverage? From what I understand, it will cover your medical needs at a higher price for 3-6 months & EVERYONE is entiled to it.

If you work in HR then your are familar with HIPPA and the strick regulations. It sounds to me like you have bigger problem with her breaking a HIPPA regulation. It might benefit you to talk to an attorney about the HIPPA regulations. The company can be fined as well as your boss.

Hi, I know she was violating Hippa laws, now i just have to prove it, I know everyones personal health info that she told me, but she could just say I had access to the files and looked it up that way, I have spoken lawyers and they are suppossed to be getting back to me, The Head HR guy even called me today and said they wouldnt contest unemployment if i signed a paper saying I wouldnt sue. At least now I know for sure I want to get my Masters so I dont have to deal with Big Business anymore, Good luck on your surgery!

Jenny, I'm sorry to hear what happened. I would check into the COBRA coverage, at least until you can get the surgery. As far as the HIPPA laws I would see what your attorny has to say and remember DONT SIGN ANYTHING! ~Nat

I am so sorry you are going through this. Take everyone advice and don't sign ANYTHING. Also, the comment about not contesting unemployment if you don't sue, well that should tell you something right there. Talk to a lawyer, check into COBRA and please let us know how all this plays out.
