Pre-Op Testing

Does anyone know what pre-op testing there is for lap band. I know of EKG/Stress test as well as blood tests. Is there a protocol for these tests or is just doctor specific? Thanks, Becky

Becky - I know every doctor is different. I just had my pre-op testing with Dr. Allen in Louisville and I had blood work, chest X-ray, and EKG. It was very painless and spent more time filling out paperwork for the hospital than anything. Do you have a date yet?

Becky, Some of the pre-op tests are also required by different insurance companies. I have Humana, and I was required to have a sleep test, a stress test, and an echocardiogram. In addition to those tests, I also had to do a 6-month doctor-supervised diet. Once my insurance approves me for surgery, I'll have additional tests that the surgeon requires. I'm not sure what those tests will be. We have a lot of hoops to jump through, but I KNOW it will be worth it! Kathy

hey becky, i know norton's requires a sleep apnea test, and some others, but i threw my paperwork away at this point. but i Do remember that they make you stay overnight for a sleep apnea test! did you go to the seminar yet??? karly
