Since so many folks seem to be interested in plastic surgery and are definately curious about it. I thought I would ask one of the plastic docs from here in Cincy to do a seminar for us. Dr. Kurtis Martin is a plastic surgeon that knows his stuff when it comes to bariatrics. He loves working with WLS patients and is pretty popular in this area. as a matter of fact he is the one I chose to do mine .. If you would be interested let me know..I would like an idea of how many folks would like to attend. Then set it up, I am more than sure he would be happy to do it. I will call his office tomorrow to get his permission and an idea of the date, place and time. Brenda

I dont' want to say that they will for sure..but I have heard if your surgeon does them and he deems it necessary it will cover it..but I don't think they will cover a plastic surgeon...I cant' swear to that though..I would definately ask someone who knows more than me. ( and that could be anyone..LOL ) Lexington surgeon Dr. Schantz works on bariatric patients, give his office a call. Don't know his number though. Here in Cinci we have a couple of plastics who do alot of WLS patients. I will find out if they can give me that answer. is this Kentucky medicaid..if so you are probably better to ask Dr. Schantz. I am going to put together a workshop with a couple bariatric docs and plastics outside Cincy soon...I will make an announcement you are welcome to attend. Brenda

Is the lower stomach that hangs on women called a panicula? Is this the area that most women seek Plastic Surgery for? Do you know if it deemed medically necessary by insurance co.s for skin rubbing, moisture collection, bacteria collection etc. after the weight loss?

Hi Becky.... I have known people who had problems getting insurance to cover even though they have a large, what I call an apron, hanging down.. I believe you need to talk to you insurance company and of course talk to a plastic surgeon, there are answers he can give you. I am working on this workshop now. And the surgeon I am going to invite to speak will also be at the conference in Lexington, along with 2 other plastics. So I am more than sure you can get alot of answer there. Brenda

Hi Ginny, don't know the schedule for the event in Lexington it will not come out until sometime in Sept when all the of the docs have signed on. this workshop is a one day thing here in our area, unrelated to the conference. keep watching the events board for more conference info. Brenda
