5 days out

First of all, I was amazed at all the fluid weight I put on. Fifteen lbs. difference between the day before surgery (last Tues) and when I got home (last Friday)! But that is slowly coming off... Down ten lbs. from when I came home. I just want to get back to where I was before the fluids, and I will stop weighing so often. Anyhoo, I am blown away by the pain. I'm sorry! I will be the first to say that I am a wimp, so take that into consideration as well. SO TIRED of the liquid diet already. I could puke from the stank of protein powder. Suggestions are welcome. Dr. Tom was very pleasant and reassuring. I'm somewhat concerned with the incision on my left side -- Sarah, you're right! That's the worst! -- and will call the doc tomorrow if my concerns don't change. Trying to wean myself from the pain meds. Other than that, just dealing. I am finding it SO difficult to get in all my liquids. But plugging away. Thanks to Brenda and Sarah, who came to see me in the hospital. Brenda, I don't remember alot of our conversation, to be honest. Haha.

First of all Sarah, It does get better. You are only 5 days out. I know the protein is rough to get in but is the unjury working for you? I found that the liquids were the worst the first week. once you get used to them its not so bad. I still find comfort in the liquids (soups and stuff). As far as getting my water in... Crystal light was my best friend but i had to majorly dilute it. I sucked on a waterbottle with a little bit of crystal light in it and it had to be room temp. You have to try different things and see what works best for you. As far as the left side pain. Heating pad was a big help but yes if it is still bothering you I would definately call the office. Please keep me updated and if you need anything im an email or a phone call away and lol you know where i work haha Glad you are home!!

Hang in there Sarah. I am the other Sarah S aunt. I will be 10mth out 8/17. The left side is a little rough and these first couple weeks are rough but its kind of like having a baby. I am soooo happy and excited now I hardly remember those bad days. Just hang in there, follow the diets and call Dr. Tom if the pain is too bad. Taryn was such a big help to me also. I still get my protein all in with at least one unjury shake a day. Protein and water is the answer. I couldn't drink cold water the first few weeks. Mine had to be at room temp and I used those little pill cups. The first time I drank out of a bottle I gulped it and that didn't feel good. I went to the mall and walked. That was a neat time, just to get out. I could ramble on and on but I will let you go. If you have any questions feel free to email me. The journey is incredible. Everyday is a new day with new WOW moments. I hope your recovery is as smooth as mine was. Jane

Thanks, ladies. I'm feeling better. That left side pain is killer, but I'm dealing while trying to wean myself off meds. Today, I haven't taken any. I'll just have some before bed. In other news, I am below my pre-admission weight. I am even below my weight on the date of my consult, which is almost a 20 lb. difference in a little less than a week! Awesome! Thanks for your kind words and unfailing encouragement!

LOL I hated it when everyone told me... but I am going to tell you the same thing. The scale can be wonderful and it can also be evil. I feel that lately since I stay off the scale as much as possible that when I do see a change in my weight, its much more exciting. The days I would weigh myself and it didnt move... it would kinda bring me down. Its awesome you have lost so much so early on! Congrats!!! Keep up with the water and protein especially in this heat! You are doing great! -Sarah S.
