Why did you choose RNY or Lap band?

I feel that this surgery is a personal decision. If your Dr. perfers you to have lap band, that's the route you should consider. In my case I chose RNY because I felt that I would "out eat" my lap band & this was a more perment choice. I did research & posted on this site lots of time. I am going to be doing the RNY. At St. Joes East, that is all they do. Their logic, and it makes total sense to me, is that it's the most efficient surgery out there. Taking my size into consideration, I feel that even if they offered other surgeries, I'd still do the RNY. I think it wil be the most effective for me and where I'll be the happiest. I wish you much success on your choice, and truthfully, each decision should be based on what is best for the person having the surgery. I'm glad to read that you're reading the profiles and researching the options. I have spent 5 years considering surgery; it's only now I feel I'm ready. It *is* a BIG decision altogether.
