any suggestions ar quitting smoking
My mom has quit several times, but still goes right back to it.... ha ha But, she says it's easier for her if she chews gum after meals or brushes her teeth after eating and drinking tea and coffee got her through it a lot of times. ha ha I guess she had to get that buzz from something...if not nicotine, then caffiene... ha ha But, burning peppermint candles is supposed to help too. It has something to do about mint!! Oh well, I hope I have given you some things to try. But, make sure your drinks and gums, etc. are sugar free!! Every little bit helps!
And, just think.... you are going to have to be able to run a marathon!! When you get skinny, you are going to have to run from all of those men who will be chasing after you.... LOL
Good luck, and hang in there!!

Amy,
I used to smoke clove cigarettes, (a pack or so a day) and like you, I had a difficult time of it quiting. I used the patches and the gum and it just wasn't working for me. About the time I was trying to quit, they came out with these longenzes and I thought, what the hell--give it a try.
I bought a box and started using them as directed. It was them that got me to quit. I was able to put them in my mouth, under my tounge and I could feel the nicotine going into my system. I followed the "step-down" program and now I've been smoke free going on 4 years.
I did this all while being under some of the biggest stress I have felt thus far in my life. I would encourage you to try those, because it gives you that oral fixation while staving off the nicotine cravings.
Good luck--I can relate to how difficult it is to quit, but in the end, it's for the better.
Hugs--
Dee

Call your doctor for a prescription. There are different drugs to help you in the process. Good luck, you can do it. I smoked for 30 years and knew I had to quit or not have the surgery. I still want a cigarette every time I see someone smoking but I am determined not to go back to that nasty habit.
