Psych and Dietician Appointment! Question!

Do they weigh you when you go to the Dietician appointment? (I am going through Shina's group to the Norton place in downtown Louisville.) These past few weeks have been difficult to try to maintain my weight so I can get approved medically. I have had an injury to my ankle. Please help!

I also am going to Dr. Shina and this past Wednesday went for my psych and dietician appointment downtown at the Norton Pavillion. Yes, the RN did weigh me and I was down about two pounds from three weeks ago when I went for my initial consultation. The whole morning was such a good experience, I came away feeling so confident in my decision to have the lap gastric bypass. I learned so much about myself in the very thorough psych eval and Erin was so helpful in explaining all the changes in my eating habits I will be making after the surgery. She even told me some great ideas to be working on right now so that it won't be such a shock to my system after my surgery. I am getting so excited about my upcoming surgery, I wi**** was tomorrow!!

Keith, Congratulations on your appointment! Now Dr. Shina's office can file for insurance, correct? That's the way it was explained to me. Did you have problems scheduling the appointment with Nortons?? I tried to call all day Friday and continuously just someone's voicemail. Did you call them or did they call you. Much like you, I'm anxious to have the surgery and wi**** was tomorrow! What should I expect when I finally get an appointment? Thanks, Kim

Hi Kim! Norton's Bariatric Center downtown called me a week prior to the appointment and set me up for the psych and nutrition appointment. I called today Dr. Shina's office and found out that my paperwork was sent to my insurance on Aug 25th and now they are just waiting for an answer. Hopefully, they will be calling me by the end of the week with approval!! Kathy

Thanks, Kathy. I finally got a live person today at Norton's. They said that they hadn't received my paperwork from Dr. Shina yet but that it was in the mail (I guess Dr. Shina's office tells them what has been mailed?). Anyway, they said they would call me once it arrives to schedule the appointment. I just need this thing to get moving! Patience isn't one of my better virtues. I am wondering what the difference is..I have to go through Suburban for the seminar/appt with Dr. Shina? Do you go downtown after that intial appointment? Just wondering!

Yes. Your appointment with Dr. Shina will be at Suburban then he will direct you to Norton's Bariatric Center, which is downtown, for your psych and nutrition appt. I've completed the consult with Dr. Shina, finished my lab work, and am trying to get an appointment with Norton's. Good luck! Kim
