Home, minor complications, good one kind of!
Hello everyone, we made it home from the hospital around 7pm last night. I went in Friday for a Panniculectomy (skin removal from below belly button only, doesn't include muscle tightening,( and a hernia repair. We all thought I had a hernia in my belly button. My wls surgeon, my pcp, my ps surgeon. The surgery itself was supposed to last from 10am to 12pm. I didn't get out of surgery until 2pm. The minor complications was this. I didn't have a hernia at all. Something about the muscle in there had come loose. Even though my insurance didn't cover this, the dr went ahead and did the full abdomioplasty, full tummy tuck. Not really a complication cause I'm pretty tickled with it. I have 2 drains down by my u know who, they're a pain but will come out Thursday. He would not let me up at all the day of surgery. So I finally go into my room a little after 3pm. I was pretty much out of it that day. Adam and sis stayed till 5 or so and I told him to come home. I was tired and sleeping anyway. My dad and aunt were up there all day till after I got in my room. They took the cathter out around 6am yesterday morning and I got up and pottied around 8am. Getting up that first time was not as hard as I thought it would be. Yes, it hurt. But not as bad as when I had my open gastric bypass. I did get sick that first time up. The nurse took me to the bathroom and left me. I got hot flashes, dizzy, lightheaded and had dry heaves. I pull that cord for help and she finally got back in there. All in all the nurses at Baptist East were very sweet and helpful. I am still sore. I think I've slept all day today. I just got up and Adam drained my tubes. The nurse told me I could have a shower today but I've got bandages all the way across my bikini line from one hip to the other and a bandage coming up my belly almost under my breast. I took a spongebath earlier and I'll call my dr tomorrow to make sure its ok to shower. I'll take pics when Adam takes the bandages off tomorrow to change them. Oh, I have a belly button I can see! The nurse peeked under the bandage yesterday and I've got one! He repositioned it! Yeah! I'll update more when I'm not as sore.
Hugs
Ange
