Blood clot ?

I am 2 weeks out today and was wondering how long is it before your out of danger from getting blood clots? I dont really know much about them, but my leg has been having a burning sensation down the front of it around a vein. It doesnt look bad or anything, just kinda scares me. Also I have been on blood thinners since surgery. Can anyone give some some info on blood clots? Thanks ...

I remember having something like this after one of my surgeries before. I can't remember what my surgeon/doctor told me, but it wasn't anything life threatening. I believe they told me it had to do with the anesthesia and it wearing off and me sitting in a certain position all of the time. But anyway..... don't treat it lightly. If you have concerns, please go see your doctor, or at least call him. Especially if you are experiencing extreme pain, lack of color in the area, and weakness. Orif you have problems with nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. These are other signs that accompany blod clots. They may want to do a deep vein thrombosis test just to see if it is okay. I'm sure you are fine. But, it is always best to be safe about things. So, when in doubt, I always call my physician. Hugs & God Bless!! Sharee

Amanda, I wouldn't second guess anything, call your surgeon! I too was very concerned about blood clots and asked my mother (a retired register nurse) what was the time line with them and she told me about 10 days. I am sure it's nothing to be concerned about, but still, call your surgeon and be safe than sorry. Let us know how it goes-- Dee

I would go ASAP & get checked out. Don't put it off. Blood clots can travel so fast so don't mess with it. I took shots for 10 days after my surgery but I didn't have any burning sensations.
