I am 16 days post op and for the last couple of days I have been having little sharp pains in the right side of my belly, between my biggest cute and where my drain tube was located. I havent been doing alot just a few miner things, except my car has been in the shop and I have been having to drive my husbands 4x4 truck which is really hard for me to get into. I have to kinda pull myself up into it, Im only 5'1'' tall and Im afraid that I may have pulled something or is this normal?

Hey Amanda, the Ky board seems slow. I was going to answer this earlier but I don't really know how. Its been over a year and a half since my surgery and I do remember having all sorts of aches and pains. Dr Shina told me that would happen for awhile. He said he had patients that had been out for a while that would say if they moved a certain way it still hurt sometimes. It sounds like u might have pulled something. U just had major surgery so yes, I'd say aches and pains are very normal plus pulling yourself up into that truck. U might want to call your dr tomorrow and just check in but it sounds normal to me. Hugs Ange

Amanda, I am three weeks post-op and am having discomfort in the same place. I seem to feel it most when I stand up or roll onto my right side in bed. I also feel it when I adjust my position while sitting. I am not having any other problems so I have just chalked it up as normal post-op discomfort. Using the abdminal binder does seem to help though. If you have any doubts though you should go ahead and call your surgeon.

It's probably just everything tightening back up from surgery, and scar tissue setting in. Any movement or stretching will do this for a while. But, if you get any redness or fever or extreme pain, yea, I'd go back to the doc.! Hugs Sharee

Hey Amanda, I am wondering, while reading your post, if maybe you have pulled a muscle from trying to get into your hubby's truck. You are still trying to heal from your entry wounds and while it may look good on the outside, we have to remember the inside is trying to heal too. I would say as long as your not vomiting or running a fever, you're probably just having some muscle tenderness. The best person to judge this is you and if the pain becomes unbearable for you, call your Dr. immediately!! Of course, we don't have to tell you that if your having vomiting and a fever you should call the doc now; right? Try and take care and not do much--you're still healing! Hope you feel better soon! Keep us updated! Dee
