Blue Cross/ Blue Shield (Toyota's Plan)

Does anyone know anyone who has BC/BS that works at Toyota in G-town, that has had wt. loss surgery? Also what is the criteria they require if it does pay?

Hey Linda, I am sorry to say that I don't have any information regarding your company's insurance plan. My only suggestion is to contact your human resources department and find out if they can give you the number to your insurance company. From there I would call them up and tell them that you are considering weight loss surgery and what do they ask for prequalifying for the surgery. Some insurances only require that you have a BMI over 40, while others request that you follow a 6 month supervised diet program with your physician. Unfortunately, there are some insurance policies that have let their clients (aka: your employer) have exclusions on WLS for one reason or another. The only way you're going to know is to make the phone call to the insurance company. I wish you good luck and welcome to the boards; by the way! Linda, Another way to find out is to contact one of the weight loss surgery centers and talk to their insurance person. Lots of times they will know if that particular insurance will pay and what the requirments are, and can explain it alot easier than your insurnace carrer. Good luck and God bless. Keep us informed.
