HELP...I need to make a decision about plastic surgery

Hey everyone. I have been a member here for years now but only just realized it today when I was looking for information about plastic surgery! My profile is old and needs updating badly, but there are a couple preop pics on there. Today I am 163 lbs or so and ready for a tummy tuck. I went to Dr. Mizzigucci (sp?) in Louisville and he suggested I will not be happy with just the tummy tuck because it won't address my sides and back. He said to get a belt lipectomy. When I got approved for the tt with my insurance, I found Dr. Miz. was gone and I went to the same office to see Dr. McCurry who did my neighbor's tt and she's very happy with him/it, so I was happy about that. He did not push me about the belt lipectomy, but suggested that I would be happy with it...it would lift my ripply thighs and take out the excess skin in my back and sides. He seemed to estimate more conservatively than Dr. Mizzigucci what the results would be though, in his explanation. This procedure will cost me about $7200 above the tummy tuck (insurance pays for that). I personally don't think my backside is bad. I have extra skin, but it's not horrible and I wasn't expecting to do this procedure to begin with. My husband and mother are not supportive...they think I "look fine" back there. Mostly, I'm hoping this would help my saggy thighs - which again, most people think "look fine." I know I should post photos on my profile...that means I would have to take them! Anyway, I need some quick advice and personal stories regarding this surgeon and/ or your experience with this procedure or even if you just had the tt and you are happy with just doing the front or not happy having already done the front. I've emailed Dr. McCurry for more information also, and hope he will write me soon. I want to schedule surgery for the beg. of December if possible! Thanks in advance for any information you can give. I'm afraid I will not be able to find my way back here also, so please email me at [email protected] if you wish! Sincerely, Michelle Linette

Thank you Sarah! I appreciate that. By the way, my provfile says I'm in Fort Polk, LA. I'll change that soon - I've lived in Fort Knox, KY for over 2 years! Take care, Michelle Linette

Hi Michelle! My name is Kathy and I work at Fort Knox!! I had my lap RNY just 10 days ago and will be coming back to work on Monday, 6 Nov (for half days). I live in Brandenburg (which is by the Ohio River and about 20 minutes from Fort Knox. My sister was a plastic surgery nurse for 15 years in Louisville (and still works with many of them of the surgeons). I sure wish you good luck in your pursuit of getting the right surgeon!!

I am not able to help you either Michelle, but like Sarah, want to say congratulations on your weight loss. It is quite the achievement and I love reading where this tool has worked for each individual. I am only 6 weeks post op, but have already started looking into plastic surgeons so that I can be prepared when this time comes for me. Anyways, I'm here to say congratulations and I hope that you find what you're looking for. Take care and good luck-- Dee

Michelle, I think if you're not happy with your body, then screw the rest of them!! LOL No, I'm just kidding!!! But, if you feel you need it, and you have the extra cash, then I would go ahead and do it!! You will definitely see results that you will be pleased with afterwards. And, you're the one who has to see yourself everytime you look in the mirror. Don't travel just 1/2 way through your journey, do what you feel is best for you, or you will never be satisfied. My answer is -- yes -- take that extra step, then you won't have to go under the knife again later when you wished you had done it the first time. Good luck to you!! Hugs Sharee
