I'm a newbie from Henderson, KY

I'm looking into getting the lapband done. I've talked to Georgetown/paducah, and got my papers, filled them out and my primary doctor is going to send a letter approving it. So hopefully, soon I'll be on my way. Any suggestions while I'm waiting. Lydia, do you have Medicare or Humana? I'm confused. I do know that Medicare covers Lap Band but I don't know about Humana. I would think that your next step would be to find a Bariatric Doctor and set up a consult. I also know that with Medicare you need to make sure that the hospital is accredited by the Centers of Excellence.

Humana is now the thing. I had medicare but when they started this new drug program you had to sign up for one of them and I signed up for Humana, and my reg. doctors visit now is a co-pay and they pay some of the RX. But they don't bill medicare anymore but Humana. The only hospital that is accredited by the Centers of Excellence that I've found so far is just Lexington, so that is where I have to have my surgery. it's about a 3 or 4 hour drive. I'm sending my packet off tomorrow, and I guess I go from there to picking a doctor from Lexington. I'm not sure what my cost is gonna be or if they cover it all. I dont' know much about this new way of insurance. It's all confusing. I'd like to find a seminar close to here to go to. Does anyone know of any close to Henderson, owensboro area. Thanks. Lydia
