Another Back Pain question for Adam

Yes, I'm on here again asking about this. Adam my husband had his discogram and plasma disc decompression last Thursday. He went in surgery a little after 1pm and was out the door and on the way home by 3pm. He has a check up on Dec 27. His dr came out afterwards and told me that it went even better than he expected and that he was able to get a good compression on the bulging disc in Adams lower back. He also said that Adam might have some pain for a week or so. Its only been 5 days. He says he feels somewhat better but he's worried because its still hurting pretty bad at times and he's afraid the surgery didn't work. I try to tell him to give it time. It could take a week or two at least for him to feel improvement. He's worried and now I'm worried cause its worrying him, lol. I know not many on here has had this done or knows people that has, but if the few that has read this can u tell me was it very long before u felt better? That would at least give Adam more hope. Thanks Ange Adam keeps saying stuff like "What if I don't get better? What if this didn't work?" Its driving me nuts. The past few months since the accident have been so mentally exhausting and I'm sure if he'd just calm down and give it time he will feel better. He's been outside all day welding, piddling in his garage. If he's hurting that bad how in the world can he be out there doing all that? He says it hurts but he wants to "exercise" it and move around. Good grief, I don't think welding on his old camper counts as exercise. All the bending over and crap he's done today he's probably hurt himself more. Can u tell I'm ready to whup his butt?

Angela, I don't know much about this surgery/proceedure, but shouldn't Adam be taking it easy and not doing a lot of bending and stooping until his back has had time to heal? I'm just afraid that he'll hurt his back even worse if he just doesn't give it a chance to heal up. I understand some exercise like walking would be ok, but working is that safe? Maybe he should call and talk to his Dr. if he is really concerned about whether the surgery worked or not, especially if he is in pain. He could also be feeling some post traumatic stress from the accident and the pain. (I would think) I'm still rooting for you hon-- Dee

Well one of the dr's that done the procedure told Adam he could go back to work last night but the main surgeon told him to wait until after his post op visit Dec 27. He says he's not lifting he's just mainly walking around, but I know he's bending some. I'm afraid he'll hurt himself too. I'm also confused on how he can do all this if he's hurting that bad. He's stubborn.
