Ok I went to my pcp on Monday to find out y my white blood count is elevated and he did another blood test. B-4 I seen him it was 12.9(normal is 10.0) and after it was 12.2. Now I had the 1st test done last Wednesday and seen my pcp yesterday and it has only came down a little bit. I have the h.Poli virus in my stomach and my pcp said it was probaly caused from that and we should give the prevpac meds they give me to have time to start working so he asked me to come back this Friday to have my blood count tested again. I called the bariatric office and told the nurse there what my pcp said and she said that the h.Poli usually don't mess with ur white blood count. Anybody had a elevated blood count? Please anyone with any info that could help with this would b appreciated and would probaly ease my fears some. Oh I wanna let everyone know that I have been completley smoke-free 4 3 days now!!!!! Yea 4 me and anyone out there that dont think they can do it is wrong. U can do it if u want the surgery bad enough. I'm living proof of that. Wewll that is if my elevated blood count don't kill me

Hey Tony I have no words of wisdom about the white count. It is a little high, but I have seen a lot higher. Sounds like a little infection but I think after you take the medication it will be ok. You should be so proud of being smoke free for 3days. That is awsome. And just think you are doing it with all this extra worry about your blood so you can do this for sure. Jane

Hey Tony, Congrats on the 3 days smoke free...Hang in there...As far as the elevated white count...I could be something like a little sinus inf...I wouldn't stress too much about it...They will get it taken care of before your surgery...It's a little hight...but not that high...As a former nurse...I have seen white counts a lot higher than that... Thanks for the reply..I'm only worried cuz I haven't been sick..No cold or anything in a long time..Oh and thet won't proceed with my surgery untill they find out y it's elevated, thats the hardest part I guess..The smokin took a little longer than I expected even with the chantix but I got it done finally..I was stuck on a half a pack a day and couldn't give that last bit up so I just put em down and told myself that this is the way it has to b and its been hard but I'm hangin in there with alot of sugar free candy lol

Mine is always elevated. Nothing wrong, docs aren't concerned but I haven't had a "normal" white blood count for 3+ years. Hasn't killed me yet and I've 4 surgeries in those 3 years.

Yes, I believe it was elevated before surgery and has been everytime I've had blood drawn since.
