surgery is Dec 28th
I met Dr. Steiner today and the pass nurse and went to boot camp. My husband and daughter went too. We were really impressed with Dr. Steiner. I have to be at the hospital at 6:15 am on the 28th. Surgery is at 7:30 am. 1 week from now I won't be able to sleep at all. I hope to be a loser really soon. Wish me luck. I love reading everyone's comments and experiences.
So Lorrie what is Boot Camp? I've heard it mentioned several times. It feels great to be a loser. Enjoy the holidays and I suggest you look at the before and after pictures to keep your spirits up for the next week. Have you signed up with other people who have had surgery in December. You guys have your own message board and this way you can meet people having surgery this month and kind of hear what everyone else is going through. It is a great tool. I still correspond with people from my month
10/05.
Good luck and keep us informed.
Jane
Hey Jane,
St. Joes East makes you take a seminar class before your surgery that tells you what to expect at the hospital during your stay. It goes through the surgery, step by step, telling you what the sedation will feel like, how they'll incubate (msp or mis said I'm sure) you, how long the proceedure will last, show you pictures of the operating room, what will happen in the recovery room, how they put the foley in, how they handle the pain management, and what to expect with food, bed, nurses; basically EVERYTHING about your stay at the hospital and what to expect when you first get home.
It's a real informative class. I took it again when Mike went in for his and still learned a lot from my own proceedure--of things I forgot and was reminded when relearning the step by step stuff.
It really helped mentally to prepare for the visit.
Lorrie, Dr. Steiner is fantastic and he will be with you every step of the way on your journey. He's phenominal.
Dee
