Is my surgery date. It is less than 7 days away now and I'm a ball of electricity with emotions ranging from anticipation to anxiousness. I'm ready to get this complete. I'm 26 yrs old with no health issues and I keep telling myself that I will be fine....but the only surgery that I've had is a tonsillectomy 2 years ago, roughly this same weight. I had no problems and that is promising with this. I think I'll go see a movie today and get my mind off the what if's and so ons....Happy new Year 2007!

You should do fine. I'm 39 years old. My bmi was 45 with no health issues except for knee pain. My surgery was Dec. 28th. I've been home about 48 hours now. I've had several surgeries but so far this has been the most uncomfortable. Mine was done laproscopic. That isn't what hurts, it's the drain site that is a hole in my stomach about the size of a dime. It HURTS! I'm getting better about standing and sitting. I figure everyday will be better. It's hard to get the protein and fluids in. Just take it one day at a time, like me. keep us posted! Lorrie

Ross! I am so happy for u. U r going to be just fine. All these emotions are totally normal. I was excited, scared, nervous, everything lol before mine. More excited than anything. I'd always been heavy set and never able to lose weight so I just couldn't wait to have my wls surgery and get started. U r going to do great. Can't wait to hear how u r doing afterwards. Do u have someone to post an update and let us know how u r? Hugs and Congrats Ange P.S. Happy New Year!

I could only imagine what you are going through. My surgery is going to be probably around 3-4 months away, (I'm doing medical weight loss first) and I am a nervous wreck. I don't think it has totally sunk in yet. I've already been drinking the protein shakes, cutting out pop and caffeine(boy is that hard) and I'm trying to make myself realize hey your gonna be drinking this stuff the rest of your life, and you can never drink your precious mountain dew ever again. It is hard, but I am so willing to do this. I have been over weight my whole life and I'm 21 yrs old with no health problems (YET) same goes for you. My BMI is 45 and the doc called me a light weight...and i was like yeah...uh huh haha.. Yeah your young and you have no health problems (YET) but think 10 years down the road what do you have in store for you? I think and have thought that to myself everyday since my weight has became a big issue(when I hit the 300 mark) I think this surgery will help anyone who needs to take control of their weight, but i think u also have to be dedicated to do it as well. I wish you the best and you will be fine =) like I said I could only imagine how nervous you are. I have never had a surgery in my life..so u could only imagine how I feel lol..I had to go have the endoscopy done and was scared to death for them putting me under bc i thought i wasnt gonna wake back up..then when i did i didnt remember anything..then i got really scared haha, but it is just part of the procedure..but neways now that i have wrote up half the blog..you will do fine =D and good luck..im pretty sure you wont regret it =D

Hi Ross. I'm January 8th, too! It seems surreal almost. But I completely understand what you mean about all the emotions you're going through.. I'm the same way. But this website and the people here have given me a lot of peace with everything, so I am a lot more confident about things now. Congrats on getting your surgery date. We will be losing the pounds in no time. Take care! Cathryn

Hey Ross everything you are feeling is totally normal. I am 15 months out and I can remember that week before like it was yesterday. I would go the the message board for people having surgery this month and keep up with those people. You can go through this with people doing it at the same time. I still keep in touch with my month message board which is oct 2005. Another thing I did was surf the before and after pictures. That is great inspiration. Also take time for your self. Stay with people who have a positive energy for this surgery. Take a deep breath, I feel you will be fine. Keep us posted and I will keep you in my prayers. Jane
