Back From First Visit
I'm home after my registration this morning at the Norton Bariatic Program. I watched a video about 35 mins long, was weighed and blood pressure checked, met with a dietician and therapist. My PCP has to sign a form and fax back and I was told I would hear from Dr. Allens office next (approx 2 weeks) and meet with them and they will order tests and schedule surgery. I am opting for the Gastric bypass done laproscopically (sp??) if possible. The dietician was very helpful and has advised me to start changing my eating habits now to get use to way smaller portions and the types of food I will be eating. I will be so thankful to finally be on my way. I am 54 and have fought my weight since I was 14, probably losing a whole family (weight wise) since then only to now be the biggest I have ever been and only being 5'2". I started school this semester and am in pre-nursing having applied to Jefferson Technical's LPN program for this fall. I have two sons ages 6 & 8 and am a single parent. My brother lives with me and helps with the boys. I can't wait to have the energy to play with my sons the way I want to. I hope I can have the surgery on spring break the first part of March (if I can, maybe sooner). So glad I found this site.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Good luck on your journey to WLS and a healthier, happier you! I am just starting on mine as well and once you get the ball rolling things can happen pretty quick! I will be getting the actual date of surgery after my pre-op teaching 1/30/2007 and have already been approved. This site and the people here are so helpful and encouraging. Welcome!!

If Dr Allens office is as fast as Dr Gellers you could be having your surgery in a very short time. I hope all goes well and will keep you in my prayers. I went to see Dr Geller just 2 weeks after my downtown appointment and my surgery is scheduled for 1/31 I will keep you informed how things go if you would like. Have a great evening.
