Feeling Crappy again
I was hoping 2007 would be better than 2006, but so far it is not off to a ggod start. I have had a rough time since my WLS in April 2006. Things were finally starting to turn the corner, but now I have this pain from my stomach on the left all the way to my shoulder. I had another surgery in December 2006 to remove an ugly ulcer that would not heal. That surgery was much worse than the bypass itself. Since I was so dehydrated and malnourished, I had a feeeding tube insterted in my stomach to help with nutrition. I was having pain with that so my surgeon finally removed it. I thought that was the cause of the pain in my stomach and shoulder. WRONG!!!! My back is starting to hurt again and I feel so bloated and it hurts. I had an EGD (my 7th or 8th) last week and I have a small ulcer again. I couldn't believe it!!! Since Monday night I have felt like crap. I have been running a fever, have pain, and just feel yucky again. I called my doctor and talked to his nurse. She is so awesome. They don't seemed to be too concerned, so I guess I shouldn't be, but I have had so many EDG's and never felt like this afterward. Of course, I got the standard answer, "If the pain gets worse, go to the ER". After everything I have been through, I would have to be unconscious to go to the ER. Once they get me there, they never let me leave (LOL). I was suppose to go o the Indianapolis Colts game yesterday, but felt so yucky and was afraid something might happen that I didn't go. Now I could kick myself. What a game!!!! Has anyone else had pain or felt crummy after an EGD????? I am thinking that my body had been through so much and is not very happy with me that it is getting me back and I need to be patient. Maybe with eveything that has happened, I am paranoid about any little pain (even though it doesn't feel little).
Anyway, thanks for once again letting me vent. I have said this many times, but with everything that I have been through, I would do the surgery again. I have the best surgeon on the planet!!!!!! He is awesome. Besides being a great surgeon, he is a very compassionate and caring doctor. You don't find that very oftern. I would never have any surgery unless he was the one performing the surgery. I know once I get over these bumps in the road, I will have my life back and enjoy life.
Take care,
-Ana
Hi Ana...I am so sorry to hear you are having problems. Complications are such a royal pain. I have been dealing with complications after my plastic surgery (the hernia repair) from Nov. 6th...it's been awful, honestly I have no memory of Christmas at all as I was running a fever and ended up back in surgery Dec. 27th..
It's so important to have a doc and nurse that you trust completely. I can honestly say I can't imagine not having Dr. Sonnanstine and his nurse Taryn there for me..They were incredible, ...he took over my care and put me on a wound-vac..he has been so compassionate and understanding even when I had a bad day and carried on in his office...he just gave it back to me and told me what for!!..lol
He and Taryn are great..
good luck and be patient, it does get better!!!
I am waiting for my home nurse to arrive now to change the would vac..I hate this thing but it's working so well..Dr. Tom told me he may remove it this week..yeaaaaahhhh

Yes I felt bad after both my EDG's but was told that was to be expected.
Good luck and hang in there.
