Mourning the loss of Chipotle...
Lori remember these foods are not banned. you can have them every once in a while just in a really severely limited quantity. after you have healed and can tolerate the spices, you can have a bite or two of your favorite Chipotle dish.
As for me it is a toss up between Papa Dino's in florence or Camino real on US42. Yes I will still eat at both places just not in the same capacity. Shoot because of diabetes I have been doing that as is. Julio at Camino will fix me a small dish of the fajita mix as my meal there( beef, chix, some onions and peppers) but that will be a whiles away for me. I am hoping to be able to get my surgery here next month.... come on UHC.
BTW Lori update your profile... who is your surgeon? where and when is your surgery? Do you need someone to post an update for you?
Lori I honestly can say I didn't mourn any foods. At 15months out I can eat anything BUT I have learned no to anymore. Now I make better choices. It is hard. I physically couldn't eat the stuff I loved. But now I don't miss it. And do enjoy it before your surgery. I did with my favorites but you will do great. I swear the Liquids where a challenge just because you are so limited.
Good Luck

I had the band. I know that they tell you that rice, pasta and bread is not tolerated well by bandsters. I, on the other hand, am not bothered by ANYTHING so far. I also LOVE Chipotle. Here is my suggestion....try the burrito bowl instead of the burrito wrap. It is sooooo good. YOu know the portions are HUGE...so you will likely be able to eat it for several days, if you follow the rules. I have a friend that is bothered by the spices. Everyone is different. Chipotle is not that horrible for you....just eat small portions....and choose well.
I also don't really mourn food...yet. My favorite meal is a steak, baked potato and salad. I tried steak once and it got stuck....my bad. I haven't had any since. I have no desire for baked potatos because there is no protein in those and I find it pointless to waist my calories on that. I was told not to eat salad for 2 months...also no protein unless you add chicken, eggs or cheese to it. I just haven't done that yet either.
Good luck. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I'll answer what I can.
Thanks guys. I do like many healthy choice foods, I just liked a lot of them! I am looking forward to so many things that will be better about life that really, a missed fav food here and there will be nothing. As luck would have it though, my husband suprised me with Chipotle today! It was good. I start the liquid diet here this weekend.
Do we have any Bank of America's in Florence area?
Oh, as soon as I get a sec, I'll work on the profile. I'm at work most of the time I post so I only have hit or miss time to write a quick post.

Hi Lori...I too love Chipotle or any Mexican food I can find..( my DIL who is latino and her homemade cooking)...spices bothered me for a short time but after Dr. Tom took out the gallbladder things got better again.
It's true you have to make changes ..most restaurants will work with you ..today I met Taryn at Ruby Tuesdays ..I had a bunless burger ..with mushrooms and swiss cheese..I couldn't eat half of it, the thing was HUGE!!
Many of us didn't realize until after surgery, we can ask for nearly anything in a restaurant (except fast food establishments) they will try to accomodate..be creative when thinking healthy...remember to eat your protein first and you will never have room for the other things you think you miss...soon as Jane says, you won't miss them at all.
Remember this is about lifestyle changes...once you make small ones and see the results you will want to keep going...things will come easier than you think!
Good Luck
