I have a Q, I've talked to some that say after surgery they had to take shots in the stomach for a while to help with blood clots. Is this standard for WLS? Does everyone do this and if so is it self done or does someone come in and do it for you? And what aboutgetting referral letters? I dont have a regular DR. and want to know if I have to round up refferal or letters supporting this decision? just need some info. Thanks!!!! to everyone who has been helping me out!!!

I had to take Fragmin shots for the first ten days that I was at home. It is used to prevent blood clots and I gave them to myself in the stomach. They come preloaded and are very easy to give. I am not sure about referral letters. Every insurance company is different. In my case I did not need a referral. I just called a surgeon and made an appointment for a seminar/consult.

My surgery was performed by Dr. Mark Shina at Suburban Hospital in Louisville. He did a fantastic job and I have had no problems. You can check out his reviews on the site here if you are interested.
