I was told to start taking prenatal vitamins before surgery but afterward will it not be hard to handle them as they are so large? What does anyone else do? I was also told that I would be on them from now on.

Currently I take Nexium, Chromagen (iron supplement and a large pill), a baby aspirin, and two prenatal vitamins. I have been taking all of these (except the vitamins) since four days post-op. For the first couple of months after surgery I took two Flinstones Chewables a day. After a couple of months my doctor said I could start taking a regular vitamin twice a day. He and the dietitian both recommended a prenatal one since they are higher in vitamins than regular ones and are cheap. My doctor even said he takes them. I guess if I ever become the first man to get pregnant I will be prepared. I have never had a problem with any of the pills. In fact, the doctor took me off of the Dilaudid pump two days post-op and started me on Meperidine (Demerol) capsules while I was still in the hospital.

Cynthia, Try the One Source brand, prenatals, at Wal-Mart. That is what I use and they are the smallest vitamins I have found yet. (They are in a pink bottle.) I wanted the smallest thing I could find. My lap-band hasn't caused me any problems, yet, with any of my medicines. Good luck to you!! Hugs, Sharee
