I went to a seminar for Jewish/ St. mary's but I am curious as to who else does the lap band procedure and how they do there fee's. Jewish, you have to pay the doctor's fee. They do not accept insurance for the surgeon's fee. That's 4000.00 out of my pocket. I am wondering do they all do the fee's that way? I am pretty sure I have weight loss surgery coverage so I am looking for answers quick. After that lap band seminar I am raring to have this and get started loosing!! Thanks Dawn in ky

I had lap band in N. KY by Dr. Sonnanstine. We were required to pay a program fee of $600. That was all I have paid. My insurance covered my procedure. I have a $100 copay to pay the hospital. I would be very curious as to why the doctor is asking for his fee up front. Afterall, if your insurance covers the procedure, the doctor's services are included. I would find out what the $4000 is paying. Good luck!

I totally agree about all the surgeons mentioned here, they are good programs and surgeons who do not require upfront fees...there is a reason for this, perhaps not certified by Inamed, (makers of the lapband?) I or they are simply not in network with your insurance? I don't know but I am sure someone can answer this question.. I would look into another program there are to many out there to chose from that are excellent. Brenda

Thanks for responding ladies.. My aunt is having RYN tommorrow at georgetown. She loves the clinic there and was very supportive in giving me links to there message boards, I am just trying to find a good surgeon a lilttle closer to home. I have a three year year old and driving a hour and a half for appointments with her in tow will be a little hard. I atleast know that there is other's out there. The reason behind the dr at Jewish charging the 4000.00 up front was they do not like what insurance companies were paying. So they went out of network with there fee's.. Still hoping someone has done it at nortons and will see this. Thanks ladies dawn in ky

Hi Dawn, Norton Bariatic Program does lap bands. I have only had to pay $100.00 when I went in for consult with the dietician and therapist. I have an appt scheduled with the surgeon, Dr. Allen on 3/16 - You might want to contact them. You can pm me if you want more info. Good luck! Janice
