I'm on the banded side and finally going home tomorrow!
Hi everyone!
I had my lap band put in on Monday at Norton's (Dr. Allen). I had a "complication." My stomach swelled up and nothing was going through. I was not allowed anything (even water or ice****il a few moments ago. I just had my first oz. of water and I'm elated. I get an oz. of Crystal Lite in awhile and an oz. of broth at noon! Who knew I could be so excited about so little.
And, I don't have to have another G.I. tomorrow. If I keep everything down today, I get to go home (Owensboro) tomorrow.
It's wonderful to be on the "banded side!"
I have my first follow-up next Thursday in Louisville and I hope to return to work the next week.
I hope to meet all of you one day.

Hi Missy. Thanks for the note!
I'm home now and really feeling sore and tired. I had a hard time last night but then again, I left the hospital, drove for two hours, and only used tylenol for pain.
Today, I feel sore, inside and out. I'm sipping a protein drink, slow but sure. I've developed "the runs." I think it may the milk I used in my drink last night. I'll have to switch to lactose free.
I think I'm going to get better every day. I'm just not bouncing back as fast as I thought I would. I guess it's because of the complications I had. The doc says it will take awhile for the swelling to go down.
Glad I made it!
Karen
Hi Cynthia.
Thanks for the well wishes. I am drinking and I'm keeping close watch on how much. I feel like everything is "stuck." I'm having trouble burping and I feel miserable. I'm very depressed right now which is completely out of character for me. I can only hope and pray this gets better.
Everything was not good at Norton's.Personally, I would never choose this hospital again. I've had eleven surgeries in my fifty years and I've never experienced anything like this.
