I'm back from Mexico and boy do I need to poop
Well, got the band Friday with Dr. Joya. No probs till Sunday, was having a lot of pain. It hurt to walk and everything, I couldn't get relief. They did X rays and an uppper GI and found a small ulcer, which they medicated.
But mostly, the pain is from so much gas. And no way to get it out. I spied the X rays, didn't know you could hold on to that much poop. (It's true what they said after all, apparently I AM full of $*it!) So that's the bottom cork, and of course the band limits belching. But the pressure on the diapraham makes breathing difficult too. Anyone else have this much gas issues? I get a sharp pain if I inhale too deeply.
Puerto Vallarta was gorgeous. We definately have found this years vacation spot. We're going back in Novemeber!

I can't say that I ever experienced the type of problems you are having.
Where will you go to get your fills? Will you return to Mexico as you get more fills, have a problem or need an unfill occasionally when something gets stuck?
Why did you choose going there as opposed to going to a Center of Excellence Hospital in your own State? Just curious...
I honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta, too, but I was there 35 years ago and I am sure it is much different now.

Same reason anyone goes to Mexico, cheap ass insurance companies. Insurance companies are the devil, as we all know. Since I was a self pay, it came down to 20K vs 8K.
Dr. Curry will be doing my aftercare. Thanks for the reply. Turns out several of the lapbanders in that forum know exactly what I'm talking about with the gas and stuff. If you didn't have it, consider yourself lucky!

Do you know how much your fills will cost?
I was self pay at about $17,000 but all my fills and aftercare are included in the cost of the surgery. I am 2 years out and I have had possibly 12 fills (I don't remember how many since I am in the process of fine-tuning the band) 2 partial unfills and 1 total unfill so far.
