psych test
My insurance required it. I had 2 long written test. About 500 questions all together,I guess they are trying to cover their tails incase we become anorexic or something. Wouldn't that be something. I can't even loose 5 pounds. There were alot of questions on there about taking laxatives and binge eating. That's all I could figure out because the rest were silly things.
Dr Nighbert's office has a psych test of about 500 questons, I really dont remember how many was on the pages but I told the lady at the desk I had my book witten LOL.
I do remember they ask the same questions over and over just in different forms of questions. I thought it was kinda silly questions but I guess it was required.
so my question is this...what are they looking for and does anyone know of anyone that has been turned down?
That is something I have never ask when visiting many centers, maybe I will do that one day.
I had surgery before the evals were done, thank goodness I would have probably flunked it, ..is that possible to do??
I went to St. Joes East and had to take the psych test also. It was a long test and fortunately my hubby was there taking it too. (he too is post-op)
We got a kick out of it, because it was basically 7 or 10 questions asked 500 different ways.
Example: I sometimes think killing myself will solve my problems.
*mostly agree*
*sometimes agree*
*rarely agree*
*neutral*
*disagree*
*strongly disagree*
Later on the test:
Killing myself will resolve my problems.
Even later on the test:
When overwhelmed by my problems, I think about suicide.
There, you get the picture. And some of the questions were just plain silly, but it does tell the psychiatrist where you are emotionally. When mine read the results to me, I almost felt like I was sitting with a psychic. He had me down pat and it kind of blew me away.
From what I've researched, most, (if not all) bariatric centers require such a test and considering the commitment of this surgery, I think that's a good thing.
Good luck to you--
Dee
