I'M HOME AND ON THE MEND

I have typed this 3 times and lost it all 3 times so we will try one more time. I had Rny on February 21, 2007. I came home last night at 6 p.m. I am doing pretty good since coming home. I was kept in ICU an extra night because some of my vitals were very sporadic, and my surgeon is so cautious. Which is why I choose to drive 90 miles to see him. I know he will always do what is best for me. Dr. Weiss is fantastic. Anyway, I am home I am doing well. I feel alot of discomfort in my abdomen especially on the left side where most of the work was done. I have some difficulty breathing since I have asthma. I am having alot of trouble with my anti depressants that I took before surgery they had to change them because they were time released and when they changed it it made my pouch unhappy and I got hot and flushed and seemed like I dumped. Since I got home at 6 p.m on Saturday the pharmacy closed at 7 and they needed to talk to the dr about some things and I am without my anti depressant which always makes me dizzy. I probably won't have any until Monday. I am on a very strict liquid diet however I don't want to eat so that is cool with me. I am experimenting with proteins. I don't understand the posts "I feel no pain" I can not say that. However I am doing well and would do it again in a heart beat. The pain meds I took last night made me have the most explicit food dream I have ever had in my life. I felt so guilty while I was indulging in all the sins of sweets and fruits but it didn't slow me down. Dr. Weiss had warned me that these dreams may occur so I awoke amused by it. Well I am going to walk in and get some decaf coffee. I hope everyone is doing well. Lesa Duncan

Lesa, I am so sorry I didn't get a chance to call u. Things kind of got crazy around here. We're trying to make a decision with Adams dad and its not a easy one. Nothing bad, just lots to think about and talk over. I do apologize from the bottom of my heart. I meant to call and see how u were doing Thursday morning. Take care of yourself and rest! It will get better it just takes time. With my open rny the first 3 weeks were the hardest. It got better when both the drains came out. Get some rest. Ange

Hi Lesa, congrats and welcome to the other side!! you are right Dr.Weiss is an awesome surgeon and doc. He will do whatever he can to help get your meds regulated..it will take time but as many of us have experienced, it finally does work out. I just went through healing from plastic surgery..I am having problems regulating my meds as well, which I find very strange. but I suppose our bodies just try to talk to us. Sometimes we just don't listen..but I am trying. I am stuborn and dont' want to hear what it has to say..lol good luck and follow the rules, you will do great!!! Brenda

Lesa...So glad you are home. I am experimenting with the proteins too. It is tougher than I thought. I am having trouble getting all my water in too, but I am still alittle scared to tear or rip something. Karen said this would get easier!! Good luck and happy healing!! Sandi

Thanks everyone I am feeling better every day. I awoke at 5 am this morning unable to get back to sleep. So I am thinking about a nap after a walk. Have a great day and thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Lesa

Lesa, I am going through the same thing. Can only sleep so long and then your up, then after doing something you want a nap. I say don't fight it. Just make sure your naps don't get to be longer than your naps after a while.
