Just when i think..........
Hey Vickie,
I agree with Brenda, definitely get a second opinion. I don't know much about your surgeon but I think he should have more compassion with all that you've been through. I am not trying to be negative because you seem happy with your surgeon but you know what I mean.
I hope you feel better!

well let me say that i have just been riding this SURGEON, by the coat tail ,i have been so sick and i am working privately to get this taken care of...........he told my mother in law today.........would you take youre car to a bike shop to get fixed? And she said no,well he said i cant fix Vickie. I really dont care if any doc at that office sees this.I am sick and tired of being sick and i only want to be healthy......I no that i am on the right path.I would have to also say that i would literally be on my death bed before i went back to someone that treats me this way. Thanks to all for your support.
oh and let me add this is my opnion and i have the right to speak my mind. Plus i wouldnt want anyone fearing wls.As they refer to me at that office I AM only A TRANSFER PATEINT.And i was not one of there wls people..................
Hey Chick,
to hell with Nighbert. Have you tried anyone else in the office? I know you had mentioned once about seeing Steiner. Did anything ever come of that? Dr. Steiner has told me NUMEROUS times to come there if I think anything could be wrong even remotely attached to my surgery, and whats happening with you sounds like it is!
Please, if your not comfy going back to that office, seek another opinion from another bariatric doctor. Please let me know if you need anything!
Yep thats what i plan on doing. He just has such poor beside manner. But you no what lol i have gained weight yeah yeah!!!! 118lbs here lol. Dr.Neighbert told me i looked pale lol...........do ya think when ya cant eat lol. But i do no that i have to get in around 3000 cal a day and 160 carbs to maintain lol. I gonna take this one day at a time, and Dr.Richard Hempel here in town let me come to him today and gave me med for REFLUX, and Zelnorm for my bowels. Dr.Neighbert told me i needed Zelnorm and i ask him for the script and he said go to your family doc lol,so i think its in my best intrest to go with my gut and thats it.....thanks cat, How are you getting along?
Vickie
I know Holly was in with him seeing patients today, but I'll call back first thing in the am if u haven't heard back from them. Tell them everything. U don't have to be treated this way and u don't deserve it. U've been thru too much and u don't need the added aggravation this idiot is throwing your way. Sorry I don't mean he's a idiot but it ticks me off that u've been thru hell and his attitude isn't helping at all.
Hugs and if u need a ear or a shoulder to lean on I'm here.
It sucks that docs assume they know more than you about your own body. Although, I'm guilty too, I am a nurse. Sometimes it takes much effort and time to truley listen to the patient, but is usually worth it as it saves time in the end. People know themselves best.
Healthcare professionals just have so many time contraints, they want to hurry through the visit as they have so many others to see. But don't be afraid to take up as much time as you need to be satisfied. You're paying them after all.
Sorry you're having such a rough time of it though. It never hurts to just be completely upfront with the docs though, kind of put them in their place with a very firm explaination of your problem and what you would like to see done. Make them explain to you why they can or cannot honor your request. If after this, they still act like a jackass, move on. There are tons of docs around.

I hope you are getting better and better each day Vickie! Sorry to hear that you have been through so much and that this doc is treating you this way. I am also glad that you are posting what actually is happening to you. I am trying to learn so much about the WLS surgeries and Dr. Nighbert since my MIL is scheduled for surgery with him in March. I usually only read the "good" stories on here, but I know that with anything, there are going to be the "bad" stories too and I am greatful that you had the courage to post on here. What I am wanting to see is that if there is a problem with pre-op, surgery, or post-op, then how does the Doc respond and how does he correct the problem. The hear that you have had so much trouble with him has really made me re-think some of the questions that I have for him and my MIL. The example he gave your family about "you don't take your bike to a car dealership to get it fixed"---this makes me think so differently of him. Post op is such an important role in anyone's life after surgery, especially after WLS. This is an ongoing process and as a surgeon (even though he didn't perform your surgery), he took on that role, but is not fulfilling his duties as a surgeon. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery from all this.
