Any Body watch Oprah yesterday? What did you think?
I watched the show even though I'm not a regular Oprah viewer (I'm a Dr. Phil gal
) Oprah didn't say that we ALL jump from one addiction to another..She did give a statistic that 30% of people who have Weight Loss Surgery will. I agree that WLS does get a bad rap but lots of people are just ignorant when it comes right down to it. You just have to take it all in stride. There is always two sides to everything and I agree Oprah doesn't always show the other side.
I'm so jealous, Jane! I wanna be in 6's. lol (someday, maybe)
Katrina

Hey Katrina thanks for the reply. It happens, you will see. I have never in my entire life been normal. The day the 6's fit you could hear me all over. I tried on the 3 diffrent pants, same size and model just to make sure they weren't marked wrong. I bought 2 pair that day. Its really nice. I still don't shop that much. I love to shop at the vintage store, ie...Good Will, St. Vincent, I can't wait for the yard sales. I look good, no body knows where I shop. They have a Gap outlet where I live and that is a great place for 6$ jeans.
Good luck you are doing great!!!!!
Jane
I want 2 addictions--extra sex and booze!!!
Ok, ok, seriously, I think there could be some merit to this although I'm sure it was quite embellished on her show. I'm not a fan of Oprah and I never watch her show. I stopped watching her, because it seems that she projects self hatred if one doesn't fall into a particular way of life. (being over weight and feeling like a failure because of being over weight comes to mind)
Anyways, I went out and bought me some martini glasses, because I can't have beer. I got it in my head that I'll just drink appletinis and martinis when in the mood for alcohol. Well, I've not had any booze yet, but interestingly enough, I think about what it would be like to have a drink before bed every night to "unwind". Thing is I don't have anything to unwind from, really.
The good news is that because I just think about it, and acknowledge to myself that it can become quite the addiction, (my brother is severely alcoholic--basically, it runs in the family) keeps me from drinking.
I suppose the question is when you're forced to lose an addiction, do you automatically pick up another one?
Maybe for some, but making this tool work is, well, work. It's an emotional and physical process. If one is willing to work on the internal, most likely there will be no transference of addiction.
This is a good topic, however slanted by Oprah.
You sound like you're doing good Jane--I'm glad to hear it. And we always love hearing from you, topic or no topic!
Dee
