Lap Band Struggler
I had my surgery at Georgetown, Ky. on November 17, 2007. My fill is up to 2.9 I feel like I am still struggling. I have lost 22 lbs but I still stay so hungry and I walked 2 times this weekend and I weight and it looks like I am up some. I am a little dissappointed I had surgery and gave up POP!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I feel like I am having as much trouble as before surgery on losing weight!! Do you think I am not were I need to be with the fills? Will it get better????
Lisa,
I am sorry that you are having a rough time with your lap band. I don't really know that much about the band just what they taught us at the seminars ect... But I do know that they said you won't loose the weight as fast as if you were to get the bypass done. Maybe you can call back up Georgetown and speak with them about it.
Good luck with everything!!

Lisa, You may need a fill. I think I'm up to 3.3cc's. If your are eating more than 1 1/2 cups of solid protien, veggies at one meal you are possibly too loose.
yes the lap band is slow. . . .I too get frustrated, but this is a life long process. Looking at your loose you are right on target.
If you are still hungry 4-5 hrs after a meal, I'd get a fill. Be sure not to waste calories on soft food, and try not to drink with your meal or 1-2 hrs after. This is difficult, but eventually it becomes second nature, I promise.
The magic of the band it's that it is ajustable for life. Use to it's fullest potential.
You may want to also lurk on the OH LapBand site. . . talk about some good advice, that is really the place for support. Our needs and progress are very different than RNy.
However, reseach shows that at 5-10 years out Lap Band weight loss is equal to or greater than RNY. . . So keep your chin up!
Best of luck,
