Hey all, I just wanted to let everyone know that I am 6 months post op today, Iv not had any complications, so far. "Thank you lord". I feel wonderful, Im down 96 lbs since I started and 85 since surgery. Iv been stuck at that for a while now, so any good ideas to get my weighloss kick started again would be great. Im terrified that Im done losing. Even if I am, Im still glad that I had rny , its the best choice Iv ever made for myself. I have been walking, running, playing, riding bikes, jumping on the trampoline with my kids. They are so happy that I can now do these things with them and Im still amazed of how much Im changing. I could bust into tears , just thinking about all Iv been doing so far, Im just so happy that I chose wls. Well thanks all for listening. Love Amanda

Hey Amanda, congrats on the weight loss! That is wonderful. 96lbs is nothing to sneeze at. Whenever I wanted to kick start my weight loss, I'd do a day or two of liquids like my protein shakes instead of meals. That would usually make me lose a few pounds fast and get it started again. Congrats again and isn't it just great?

Hey Angela, I thought about trying the day or two of liquids to kick start the weight loss while on a "stall" does this work for you? Katrina

It always worked for me. I'd lose 15-12 pounds in 10-12 days. I drink body fortress chocolate whey protien from Walmart. When I'd do the liquids. I'd drink those for meals instead of just 2x a day. No foods at all. Just my reg sugar free, no cal drinks. I do drink diet sodas. I'm allowed. I know alot of people can't but my doc allows it. I heat up a 20oz of water, then add a scoop of protien, 2-3 teas of splenda and its like a hot chocolate. Sometimes I add coffee and its like a cappacino. Good luck. The liquid diets always took all my will power lol.

Aww Amanda, I'm so happy for you. I remember how scared you were in the beginning. I guess this just shows we have to take chances in life. I'm so glad you had the RNY (matter of fact I'm glad I had it too). lol This will only get better for the both of us. Oh btw, support group meeting is 3/20. Tony and I would love to see you there. They are starting to get more people who attend and lots of ladies are having surgery soon. Katrina

Thanks girls, I may try that liquid protein diet, but should I have a stall like this already? I mean to last so long? Iv had stalls but never this long and what if I didnt do anything to break the stall , would I just stop losing or what? This is starting to worry me since Im only 6 mths out. Oh and Katrina, Ill try to come to the meeting I think its at 6 pm isnt it? If not message me or something and let me know. Thanks alot Amanda

Amanda, I had my surgery 5 days after yours; I'll be celebrating my 6 month on Monday. I go in then to weigh, and to tell you the truth, I'm both anxious and nervous about that moment on the scale. I too have been suffering from a 5lbs variance of a lose, hold, gain, lose, gain, hold stall. I called a post-op (almost 3yrs) bari-buddy and we talked about what could be going on with my diet (Mike's too as he is going through the same thing--MikeD here is my hubby) that would make me do this. We figured out that I (we) was eating way too many artificial proteins. Being 6 months out, and having more variety in our diets, we were meeting, and exceeding, our daily requirements for protein. Adding the artificial protein on top of it was adding too many calories too. For instance, Amanda (my nutritionist) has told us that she would like to see us around 1200 calories a day. Mike and I were doing a minimum of 1500-1700 calories a day. About 600 calories of that was strictly from artificial proteins. I revamped our diet, called Amanda (my nutritionist--to get her opinion and approval of the revamped diet) and started a less artificial protein diet and more of a natural one. I still do an artificial protein shake a day, ( I too use the Body Fortress from Wal Mart) of around 35.5g of protein per serving. (we only absorb 30g at a time, but I add peanut butter in mine and it ups the ante) I will email (personal message, I believe they call it around here ) with my meal plan and caloric/protein intake. Mike and I started exercising 3 weeks ago, (some kind of exercise of 30 minutes of cardio) and do so everyday with only 1 day with no exercise. I think I've broken my 5lbs stall, because I feel better and my favorite night shorts, that while big anyways, are now--if I suck in my gut--falli off of me. I use the word "think", because my dear hubby hid the scale from me, telling me I was becoming too obsessive! I wouldn't encourage you to go back to the liquid diet, (sorry guys) because that might shock your body and confuse it, into thinking your starving it again. This could very well make your body hold even harder onto its weight, thus making the stall longer. For instance, you'll lose from the original stall only to find yourself into another stall once you go back to eating. (just my personal hunch mind you--and I'm not a nutritionist or a doc) I'll let everyone know what I weigh on Monday night from my Mondays appointment. To see if my revamped diet worked and if I've lost from my last weigh--in--weight. Good luck to you and by the way, I also agree with Ange--96lbs. is not anything to laugh at, that is FANTASTIC!! Take care-- Dee
