nutcracker esophagus

A friend of mine who lives in Ky. has nutcracker esophagus, and was told becasue of that she may not be able to have gastric bypass surgery. She is on a nitroglycerine patch for it. Has anyone else heard of this? Has anyone else with this condition had wls? Thanks for any help you can send along. Terri

You know ... I'm not doctor or anything but I wonder if this would help alleviate some of her symptoms. I just googled this and it is mostly caused by GERD..since the pouch doesn't actually create stomach acid (or creates very little) this may lessen her symptoms. Food for thought....so to speak!
