Met Dr. Allen Today (also Cynthia O)

Hi all, well I finally got to meet Dr. Allen. That office was packed!! Also got to meet Cynthia O. (from these boards) - what a lovely gal!! Dr. Allen has suggested that the lap band is the way for me to go for safety & down time reasons - so they will submit to Medicare and wait for their approval which should take about six weeks he said. Lap band will be done out patient - I will just have to work harder to get the weight off. When I get approved (praying so) and get a surgery date, will post that. Cynthia O, I pray you have a safe trip!!

I had lap band by Dr. Allen on 2/5/07 (I'm six weeks post op). I had mine iin the hospital, not out patient. Has something changed in the last month? I'm really glad I had mine done inpatient because I had a complication (my stomach swelled shut) and I was in the hospital for five days. I wonder if it has to do with Medicare versus private insurance (I hope not)! My aunt had her surgery done in Houston last August and she had outpatient with no problems! Welcome to the boards! Hey I am back in town Janice!!!! Been a long week end. It was just wonderful to meet you. Your a sweet person. I felt like I knew you all my life. I am hopeing that he will do ours at the same time and we can see each other in the hospital.. He also wants to do the lap banding for me in about six weeks he said. I had part of my bowel removed years back and that was why he wanted me to go with the lap. I am still very excited to being able to do anything. I cant bear this waiting. Why the out patient Janice? I also have medicare and when I talked to them they told me that it would and was coverd with them. Man did you ever see so many people waiting to see him. We got to Mississippi around 6:30 that night long drive it was. Hope to hear from you soon.
