For protein I love mine and I'm lactose intolerate post op. I get Body Fortress Chocolate Whey at Walmart. Its great. I heat up a 20oz glass of water, in a bowl I mix a scoop of protein (they have vanilla too) and 2-3 teas of splenda, and then u add the ho****er. U can't add boiling water but I add mine pretty hot, like a cup of coffee. Sometimes I add coffee and its like a cappacino. Good luck! Hugs Ange

Call your Nutritionist...Your taste changes after surgery. I was able to tolerate the unjury. Mybe your Nut will have some samples to try so you are not spending so much. I also use the body fortres now but I always liked the choc. I mix mine with cold mild and a couple ice cubes. I use an imersible hand held mixer and it really mixes it up. If you don't have a hand held mixer it is worth it and not ver expensive. Good luck, you will work it out. How long will you be in the hospital? I was in 3 days so I was able to try the hospitals protein drinks. After surgery it is very hard but I really would follow close with your nutritionist. Good Luck Jane

Hey Cheryl, I was thinking maybe you could try Isopure from GNC. I think it has like 42 g of protein in a big bottle http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009VAHA8/ref=nosim/?tag=dealtime-sg-ret-20&creative=380333&crea tiveASIN=B0009VAHA8&linkCode=asn There are other things also but they tend to be more expensive. It seems like the easier they are to get down and the amount of protein in them the more expensive they get. lol. You could also try Profect; I think you have to buy that online at http://www.profect.com Another thing is the IDS New Whey Liquid Protein here is a link to tell you a little more about it http://www.amazon.com/Whey-Liquid-Protein-Grape-vials/dp/B000NB7ZZ4 Good Luck, Katrina

Yeah, I'm all about the Body Fortress, chocolate, for me. I will tell you my Mom *loves* JB Robbs (I think?) stuff. She bought it at the local health food store, and it's expensive..but she can drink it morning or night. I have tried a few others and didn't care for them, but that's just me. Good luck! Kat

My first 2 weeks out of surgery, I lived on New Whey Protein tubes. They have 42g of protein in 3.1oz tubes Grape, Fruit Punch and Orange. I don't know where you are having your surgery. I had mine at Georgetown Community Hospital and a woman in the office sales them there. You can also order them at www.bariatriceating.com. I could have never gotten mine in the first few weeks without these. I would freeze them sometimes and eat them like a popsicle or mix them with water...kinda like Kool-Aid. It only took about 5 days to get the last time I ordered from Bariatric Eating, so if you ordered now, it should be here by time you get home from the hospital. Best of Luck with your surgery!

I'm 11 days post op and protein supplements are not my friend right now either LOL. Although I do have several different products here at home to choose from. The only 2 that I can even stand to swallow are the IDS new whey protein bullets or the Protica bullets, more or less the same just with different flavors although IDS offers the 42g capsule. I usually drink half and then save the rest for later. It's not my favorite thing to get down for sure. I usually take a sip, then take a sip of water to get the taste out of my mouth, it also helps to not breath in the smell while I drink it LOL. But, they go down pretty fast and it's done and over with. Another I use and actually it's not bad at all. It's the Matrix cookies & cream and it does taste just like cookies and cream, doesn't have that protein smell and mixes up really well. Isn't thick like a lot of protein products. I usually throw it in the blender with 8 oz of water and a few cubes of ice. I can drink it pretty easily. I just have a problem with not wanting something so sweet tasting all the time so I don't drink those constantly. I have tried the unjury, chocolate flavor was ok, the unflavored I can't stomach lol. I've tried to add it to things but no luck so far. I have a couple canisters of Nectar but that tastes so yuck to me. I think I probably wasted my money with those. The pure protein banana cream flavor isn't too bad although I haven't tried it since I've had surgery yet. And I have some of the acheiveOne cappuchino protein drinks, but it has caffeine and I'm not suppose to have any right now so I haven't tried it yet. I orded the Matrix cookies & cream from bariatriceating.com Hope this helps =) Tammy

I also forgot to mention I drink the Protodiet Hot Cocoa. I usually have an 8 oz cup in the morning. It's not bad, actually tastes almost like regular cocoa. Each container provides 21 servings and each serving contains 15 grams of protein, 80 calories, 0.5 grams of fat, 5 grams of carbohydrates and 2 grams of sugar. Tammy
