Previous LB Perferation, Peritonitis, Adhesions, my 3/19 RNY could not be performed

I was unable to have the RNY procedure. I was in surgery 4 hrs. My abd. is full of adhesions from a severe lap band erosion (perferation, 2 holes in stomach) in 2005 that caused servere peritonitis that led to an abd. full of adhesions. The Dr. was great, care was great. He worked and worked to clean and even tried the procedure, but the scaring wouldn't even allow the largest staples to close, apparently my stomach wall is inches thick with adhesions from the peritonitis. I was in the hospital 4 days with 2 drains and a stomach tube. I'm home with one drain and a stomach tube. They are doing fine. I'm only tender near the stomach tube. Taking Tylenol only at bedtime. I see Dr. the end of next week. I was disappointed, but God is still in charge. I'm alive. It wasn't meant for me to have this procedure. I wish you well. God Bless you on your journey. Pray USA

Welcome home! I was wondering about you and how you were doing...sorry you could not have the procedure, but at least you had a dr. with enough sense to know not to pu**** anyway and end up with untoward aftereffects. I hope your healing goes well and quick, and even though it was not meant for you to have this procedure, do not give up hope on losing weight and getting healthy...exercise, eat healthy, and stay positive...and keep coming here to OH for support and encouragement...we are all trying to attain the same end result...good health...we may just have to take different avenues of acheiving it.

I too am sorry that things didn't come out as you had planned. It is a good thing that your doc was up front about your situation; I've heard horror stories to the contrary. Keep your chin up, somewhere there is an answer. Take care-- Dee
