Sunday night is was so nice and warm we decided to grill out...I thought I would try the steak, it was very tender, had no problems going down, and I ate a very, very small peice, maybe 4 bites total, and chewed it up very well....HOWEVER...3 hrs later I started having bad, bad stomach/abdominal cramps...I vomited 4 times over a 3 hour period, the pain lasted until 1am, then finally subsided....I am almost 4 weeks out, and yeah, I know I'm supposed to be on the soft/pureed stage for the next 4 weeks, but the steak looked/smelled so good, was so tender...thought I could handle it...NOT!! Guess I won't be trying anything else like that for a while and will stick with the soft/pureed stuff...so, take it from me...listen to your nutritionist and don't rush your stages. I hadn't had pain like that since I had my last child...lol.

I am so sorry. Everything is a learning experience and now you know they make those rules for a reason. I call those episodes my humbling experiences. Jane

I did something like this about 3 weeks out of surgery with bread. I took a teeeny-weeeeie-tiny bite and it was not even 30 minutes later I was, ummm, well; take a guess! Yeah, one definitely needs to adhere to the phases of the RNY diet, because they are there for a reason. I've since been very good at following a good diet schedule, but I'll admit, somedays (when there's stresses in my life) it's a challenge. Sorry you got sick WD-- Dee

Just wanted to post what happened to me so that others could be helped and maybe learn from my mistake! And yes, it is a humbling thing...just got back from Gatlinburg and talk about being challenged!!! But I was a very good girl, didn't go off my diet even once...however, it helped to stay away when others went out for a big feast!
