ULCERS!!!! HELP!!!!
Since having my surgery in April 2006, I have had many complications. You name it, I have had it. Well, I had another EGD last week to check on my 2nd ulcer. My first ulcer had gotten so bad that I had to have it removed in December. Now I have another one and it is not healing. My surgeon says it is getting bigger and they do not know why. I have a an appointment to see another surgeon for a second opinion April 13, but don't know if I can last that long. The pain is sooo bad. I am living on pain meds and I hate them. I have been so sick to my stomach and puking like crazy. I am puking up some blood and it has gotten worse since my last EGD. I am so tired all the time. I can't sleep at night because I am in so much pain. I know I should go to the ER, but I have no veins left and the thought of them poking me to find something when I know I don't have anything is almost to much to take. When I had my EGD, they stuck me 8 times trying to find a vein and then finally had to resort to a PICC line. My 5th in less than a year. They took the PICC line out after the procedure. Has anyone else had problems with ulcers and if so, what was your solution? I was told that my surgeon is considering reversing my surgery because of the ulcers and I DON'T want that. I have come to far and worked to hard to have to stop. Any input would be appreciated.

Ana honey,
I don't have any answers for you, because (knocking on wood) I've not had any problems with ulcers. I just wanted you to know that I'm sending some prayers and positive healing vibes your way.
You try and do your best to get some rest and if the pain is too much, maybe going to the ER would be better than suffering.
Godspeed to you--
Dee

I haven't had any ulcers, but am only 2 months post op. I have had 3 strictures in the past month and a half and I know that the poking and EGD's get old, but they have to do what they have to do to find out what is going on. I know this is probably a stupid question, but are you staying away from greasy, high fat foods and soft drinks? The only reason I ask is because I have a friend that didn't and she had several problems with ulcers. When she finally cut out the Diet Coke and some of the foods she was eating, the ulcers healed. I don't really know what to say to you to help you, but I also will say a prayer for you. Best wishes on finding out the source of the ulcers and having it corrected!
