PROTEIN BAR HELP?!?!?!?!?
Ok heres the thing I am getting very tired of the everyday stuff....And I would love to know when can you start protein bars in place of the shakes???? I am about to be very sick of doing the same ole same ole!! Just would like to have a something a little different, and the bars would make my life much much easier especially during the working hours!!! I have went thru all my papers I have and I dont see anything that says a specific start time on protein bars. Any info will be greatly appreciated!!! Anyone out there know when you can add the bars??????????????

I'm not sure when you are able to start them, the best thing to do is call the nutrionist and ask. One thing you have to be careful about is the amount of carbs in these bars. All of these bars are not healthy they have sugar and other "bad" things in them. Just be careful about your choices.

I would check with your nutritionist to see about the time to start and if she has any recommendations for specific brands. Some of them are "low carb" but have sugar alcohols that will make you feel awful! GASSY and the craps!
SOMEtimes the people at the nutrition stores can be helpful with which kinds to try once you get the go ahead. It may just be touch and go to see which you tolerate best. (So don't buy a whole box of one kind.)

I think at my 8 week I was told I could have anything I wanted that I could tolerate. I tried a couple of the bars but don't eat them often. Too many carbs and calories for the amount of food.
I found Body Fortress at Walmart to be the best tasting and best price for protein shakes. It comes in Van and Choc and will mix in hot foods unlike many of the protein supps.
Dr. Steiner here too!
I started eating protein bars (short lived though) about 3 weeks out. I went to a group meeting that St. Joes has every Friday for recent surgery patients and this happened to be an issue brought up.
I believe (as memory serves me) Amanda said we could add some in about 4 weeks out. Although, you might not want to make a habit out of them, because of their caloric and carb intake.
I only do protein bars when there is no other choice. I noticed they correlated with weight loss stalls (and husbands too) and once I stopped doing them on a regular basis, loss began again.
You can also dump on some of them, as I've heard others tell of their experiences. Just use caution when doing them.
And I concur that the Wal Mart brand 'Body Fortress' is priced fairly well and can be a tasty treat with creative ideas.
Good luck--
Dee
