Hi Donna, We have the same "surgiversary" ! Depending on what it is that I am eating, I take in anywhere from 1-3 oz. per meal. I tolerate a lesser amount of meat and a greater amount of soft foods. Water and liquids sometimes a bit more. I drink plenty of water and take my vitamins, but the protein is another matter. I cannot tolerate the shakes, they make me vomit, no matter what I mix them with, so most of my protein comes from my food intake. Consult your dietician just to be sure that your amount of intake is sufficient.

My surgeon had us eat only 2oz per meal until goal. But each dr is normal. I'm 2 yrs out and can now eat 4-5oz depending on what it is.

How much I can eat depends a lot on the day and how I feel. Lately, it seems I can eat a great deal. As far as meat is concerned, I can probably eat anywhere from 1/2oz to 2oz at any given time. Right now, my biggest thing is cottage cheese and fruit. (particularly honeydew melon balls, strawberries, blackberries, and pineapple) I eat a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, and a half of cup of fruit. This is very filling to me, although some days it does take a little while for my stomach to catch up with my brain. Meat is the hardest for me to get in. I can only eat about 2oz most at a time. Ange is right about the softer foods; I can get a lot more of that. Right after surgery, I was getting anywhere from 2-4oz of fluid in at a time. My biggest thing after surgery was soup. I drank a lot, A LOT, of soup. I could get full easily on 3oz. I bought Unjury and mixed it in to help with the protein. Sometimes I know I would have 2oz of soup and about .5oz of meat on the side; with the Unjury in the soup--of course. As far as liquids, I kept to the schedule in the handbook St. Joes gives us. It was challenging at first, sipping became the biggest key. Anyhoot, I'm rambling. Basically, yeah, you're doing it all just fine. Take care-- Dee

Just keep plugging away. I still have problems with chicken and hamburger but can eat fish and crab. Just take it anyway you can. You may need to eat alittle more often to reach protein goal if you can't do the shakes. I found Body Fortress in Walmart to be the best protein shake for taste. Both the choc and van can be mixed in about anything.
