I had my gall bladder taken out Friday, and I am having a real tough time. I feel like crap. Major gas pains, and burning in my stomach, I do not remember hurting this much after my by pass. Has anyone else had their gall bladder removed and feel bad? I just did not expect to feel so bad, I figured I would be back at school Monday ready to go, but I am thinking I may need a f ew more days. Miranda

Hi Miranda..I am sorry you are not feeling well. maybe you should call the office tomorrow. I had my gallbladder out on Aug 2nd..I went back to work the next day. Dr. Tom said something about warming the gas before he used it..that was something new he ws trying, it must have worked. Gas pains normally only last a couple of days I think.. hope you feel better soon. Brenda

It helped for me to walk to get rid of the gas, also I would roll my shoulders and lie on my back and move my legs as if riding a bike, this helps gets the gas out of the upper chest and abdominal areas and move on out of the body. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

I'm sorry your feeling bad . The only thing that has helped the gas pain in my the upper part of my stomach is a GI ****tail I get from the ER. I still have my gallbladder. But I have been very sick with gas in the upper part of my stomach. I would love to know what some of your symptoms was before your surgery.

Pain my upper right quad. Sometimes nausea. But the pain started as dull, then over about a month and a hjalf got sharp and worse. I had over 100 stones, Dr. Steiner said my gall bladder was like a bag a rocks. Sometimes my back hurt under my right shoulder blade, too. Miranda

Ah Miranda, I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. I had gallbladder surgery before my WLS, and remember being very sick for about 6 months afterwards. I had pain every time I tried to eat, so I gave up eating. I went to soups and they had to be completely liquid (no chunky this or that) and super-uber hot! It was when I took a second look into WLS and met up with a surgeon to discuss my options. She told me then that I needed to have my GB removed. After my removal, I didn't even look at WLS; I was too sick! I went from 459lbs to 411lbs in the course of 2 months. I still to this day do not know what made me so sick, but I know it's what took me an additional 3 years to have WLS. (I had a bad coming-out-of-anesthesia experience to boot) Anyhoot, you have the best doc around. He'll take good care of ya and if you are concerned, give him a call. Maybe he can give you something to help with the gas and pain. Take care and good luck-- Dee P.S. I know for the WLS, for me, walking really did help with the pressure and pain of gas.

I had to have mine out before my WLS as well. It HURT far more than the RNY! I was told to sleep sitting in a recliner so the gas would not get in my chest and neck area which is what causes most of the pain. I had issues with my stomach for a couple of weeks. The bile now drips continually which can upset your stomach and cause loose stools. I found that if I ate llittle things like crackers, just something in my stomach.. it helped alot. Hope you are feeling better soon.
