OT: I need a dress for a wedding

My cousin's daughter is getting married at the end of May and I want to buy a fancy dress to wear. I've never bought one, theres never been a need. I didn't go to prom. I didn't get asked and I was ashamed to go alone. I know I don't need one that fancy, like a prom dress, but I would like something that is pretty and appropriate to wear to a wedding. Any suggestions? There will be people at the wedding who haven't seen me in awhile and possibly have no idea that I've even lost weight. Of course, the main reason I want to look pretty is cause its my cousins wedding, not to surprise anyone, well maybe a little... Hugs Ange

I have a beautiful prom dress that I wore my senior year of HS. (I didn't get asked but I went alone and had lots of fun doing the Time Warp...again!) Its probably too big your you, I think its a 16/18. But it is so beautiful! It looks like it would have fit right in on the Titanic (the way the women dressed) I actually have a picture of myself in it, let me find the link. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y144/pretty_hippie/MVC-075F.jpg Yes, thats me. Senior year. I weighed about 200-ish.

Thats a gorgeous dress! I wish I could wear it. I wear a 10 in most and a 12 in some that are tight in the booty area. I've still got a big booty. I'm thinking a nice cotton, floral print maybe. Something sweet looking and fresh!

Check that shop on Ring Road "My Sister's" They have a lot of pretty dresses. I have gotten a lot of nice clothes in that shop. It is well worth the trip.

Angela For May a nice cotten or floral print would be great. Walmart has great clothes at great prices. As Long as you feel you look pretty in the dress thats all that matters. I would also suggest A nice skirt and a soft blouse. Donna

LOL great minds think alike, I just typed that in the post above lol and then saw yours. Something that looks like springtime. I know that sounds crazy but thats what I've got in mind.

You know Ange, another place you can try for a nice spring-time dress would be Catos or Fashion Bug. They make smaller sizes too and are fairly reasonable, as well as usually having nice spring time dresses. Have fun! Weddings are always nice to attend in spring. Dee

Ange, I am not sure how often you make it to Louisville, but if you do there are some GREAT consignment stores! My favorite is "Sugarbakers" on Shelbyville Road. (Lot's of rich people dump their closets every season, and bring their clothes there. Good prices.) You also might be interested in the "Plato's Closet", which is a "teen" type consignment store. (There are several locations in Louisville.) They might have more of the fancy type gown you are looking for, especially with proms. Let me know if you want more details. Tiffany

I just remembered a great place to get brand name clothes at really good prices...TJ MAXX! Just be sure you are comfortable paying with either cash or secure with paying with a credit/debit card, what with all that has been going on in the news.

Hi Ange! I recently bought two beautiful tee-length dresses at Dillards on Shelbyville Rd, in Louisville. They both had originally cost around $180 and they had them on clearance for $15 and $20. Now I just need a place to wear them!! LOL!! Kathy 265/185/152
