Ex Smokers... HELP!
Ahhhhh Joy,
I feel your pain. I was a smoker for 10 years and have been smoke free now for 4 years. Like you, I tried several different methods and nothing seemed to work. Then they came out with those logenzes. Feeling defeated, I went ahead and bought me a box hoping it would work.
It was the extra strength formula and guess what, it worked! If I got the shakes, I popped in one of those drops and the cravings ceased. I only had to use the longenzes on a regular basis for about 2 weeks. From there, I went to only using them as needed--a total of a month.
I still, to this day, get cravings. Sometimes it so bad, I actually head towards the cigarette store, but I can control them. I used to smoke Indonesian clove cigarettes. They are really strong with 3x's the nicotine, so it was a challenge for me.
You can do it. Set you up a network of support and take one day at a time.
Good luck hon--
Dee

I went cold turkey and quit 9 years ago. I have never picked up one since but.........
I still get the urge. I don't know why. I hate the smell but whenever there is alot of stress I would love to just get one but I know I would not quit at just one. Have you gone to the doctor? My sister was given something before her surgery and she was able to quit. I am so proud of her because it was harder than the actual surgery. You hang in there. You are getting so healthy and you don't want to sell your new health short.

Thank you so much for responding!
Oh no, after 9 years the crave is still there huh. Gosh this addiction really is EVIL!
I went to the doctor and was put on Chantix for a month and finally said forget it and stopped them. I had cut down some but nowhere near quiting while takin it.
I do know I can taste things alot better now(not good lol) and I smell things alot better now and Ive always known cigs stink bad. Breathing better too.
I wont give in! I refuse to!
Hey just a few quick things that helped me. I have been stopped for close to two years now. I don't want to sound like the reformed smoker but cold turkey was the only way I could quit. I was told that keeping your hands busy would help, so I cut a straw the size of a cigarette and took it everywhere!!!! Also, carry a bottle of water everywhere you go this will be a good practice for after surgery also!!!! 1: The straw takes the place of the cig. 2: the water is like keeping up with your pack of cigarettes. Believe it or not that after a week most of your problem is now mental not physical. I'm not a Dr. I was told this by my Dr. This is the hardest part, getting used to being without cigs. But trust me I smoked 3 and a half packs a day you can do it. I wish you all the luck and hang in there. After quitting I feel alot better everything tastes better and I don't worry if there is a place to smoke when I go somewhere. Hope it works out. D.W.

Thank you!! I know I was told after 72 hours that the nicotine has left the body. Then it becomes the habit with the hands and etc like u said. That is my biggest part now but what sucks bad is I can be busy as can be with my hands, yardwork etc and have craving**** me like crazy. Oh well.. I WILL get through this! lol
